I'll have to go back and search for pics, but I can't figure how that fold out bed platform was taking up so much space. That looks like a LOT of extra room up there.

Basically, it opens to a 30 inch wide by 76 inch long bed, so when folded up, you have to store two joined pieces occupying 30 x 38 x about 8 inches. The eight inch height leaves room to store some things on top of the folded bed, but all in all, having the bed occupies about half the volume of the nose cone. (Plus some more is lost to storing the bigger sleeping pad.)

All in all, though, many (if not most) people will appreciate having room to sleep two, given that the storage is still pretty good. Removing that upper bed makes the amount of storage borderline over-the-top, unless perhaps you've reason to haul many days of food with you.

Hey, I just drove it to the North Plains McDonald's last Sunday. Put the top up and let the spooky-abnormal warm March breeze waft through the cabin while I played Amazing Alex on the iPad and ate my Sausage McMuffin. Livin' the good life, yes I am.

Or were you thinking of something more along the lines of the Canol Road or Belize? :sombrero:

Now did you get the 2 for $3.33 deal they had going on?(ask me how I know)
And were you just taking in the sights of the krawlers on the trailers headed out to TNF?

Maybe traveling farther down the road towards Buxton would complete the long expedition?

Mike, according to the ER website, looks like we have a new member to the JP club.
Thanks, Eric, for the heads-up. If it got bought by anyone here, or if anyone here knows who bought it, post up to let us know. Given what an XV-JP is best at, it's hard to believe that only two of the eleven XV-JPs made show up here.

Hi Eric and Mike,

We bought the XV-JP. Plans are to have AEV do a Hemi conversion, bigger tires, and put a wrap on it. We will pick it up in May, but we plan on bringing the XV-LT to the Expo instead of the Jeep. Will you be at the Expo?

Happy, happy, joy, joy!

I, for one, am really pleased that the last XV-JP went to a Portal member. It sounds like you have nice plans for it. (My truck will certainly be jealous of your Hemi.)

My Jeep won't make it to OvEx due to a Mandatory (capital M) family commitment, but I hope we can meet up sometime relatively soon.

Congratulations! An XV-LT and an XV-JP make a nice collection of overlanderrs.

FWIW, the XV-JP will be sort of "on display" at the Northwest SprinterFest on April 13 in Tualatin, Oregon. That's because Upscale Automotive, which sponsors NWSF, did much of the important fabrication work on the truck and I'll be attending so people can see their work. If you're in the area, stop by and have a look at my rig and all of the Sprinters attending.

I wish I wasn't going to be in Louisiana working! I'd still like to meet up some time and check out a few things on that Jeep of yours, specifically the fox wing awning. Finally installed my new Ursa Minor j30 pop-up on my 2012 rubicon. My interior build is going to have to be relative simple as I would like to keep the rear seat intact.

Cheryl, welcome to the XV-JP family, albeit small. My commitments will also keep me from ExPo. Maybe we will bump into each other in Colorado one weekend for a mini XV-JP rally. Mike??

Eric, that's a great idea, sounds like fun. We are going to pick up the jeep in May, Mike at ER is adding an inverter for us. We are looking forward to having a couple of days to play on the way home. I wish it were longer, but we have to get back to load the truck for the Expo.

We should plan a rally for the jeeps :wings:
