Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2015

yeah, Im sure there actually are people who might prefer a non-removable top jeep.

I agree, this thing would sell like a hotcake. I think the brute style truck one would sell like crazy too. even though it does sort of look like a passport. haha

If Jeep were to sell the Africa; I would prefer that the spare be mounted on the rear door and while I know they would never do it, it would be nice to have an auxiliary fuel tank in the area behind the rear axle. At least leave it open for the aftermarket. I don't want a separate "tire carrier." I've had too many in the past and it adds a layer of inconvenience to accessing the rear cargo area, give me a single access door. And I like the full door option, none of the lift gate/tailgate stuff. Just one door that allows me full access to the rear of the vehicle. I too think they would sell really well. I'm too pale (the sun hates me) to remove the top anyway.

I really like the Africa and would be very tempted by it.

Jack

Yep The spare should go on the rear door like a Land Rover or H3.

A larger or auxiliary fuel tank would be nice too.

With the extra length a pick-up model with a 6 foot bed may be possible?

Give me an Africa but I'd like twin barn doors on the rear that open laterally. Spare off to one side.
Opening like that saves space.

That is awesome setup bill, as an aside to that, make a latching system where you can open one side or the other independent of each other.

The Africa is already reminiscent of an FJ40, Toyota-style ambulance doors would be a nice feature to have instead of the huge barn door.

The one issue with these doors is the center 'post' which hinders rearward vision. Maybe 70/30 doors to off set the 'post'.

What would be a reasonable price and what do you think Jeep would realistically offer the Africa for?

Would there be different levels of trim/equipment at different price points?

or would it be a limited run to keep prices inflated and have prestige?

No idea on prices or trim, etc. Two problems exist right now. One is the plant is at maximum capacity, no room for anything else. The plant is supposed to be enlarged to allow more capacity when the next Wrangler is built. Second the plant is set for the current platform, hard points and dimensions and this wouldn't fit on the line. The next generation Wrangler is supposed to use the same hard points, however it MIGHT be possible to tweak the line enough to make it fit, if it uses the same wheelbase.
I prefer the suspension of the Wrangler, but also prefer a solid body. So I have high hopes for something like this.

So I have high hopes for something like this.

My initial reaction and response to Z O O R O P A was going to be "don't hold your breath", but given your career prior to retirement, I choose to interpret your response as promising. I'm probably reading too much into it, but don't dash our dreams. :)

Mind you, I'd rather have the Chief than the Africa (I like to take my top off). But I'm not holding my breath. ;)

My own guess, there is a small chance. I know there are a lot of people within Jeep that want something like this. A business case needs to be built first. I wish I could give you a wink wink, nod nod.
I've been wanting something like this for many years. Jeep almost did an suv like this about 15 years ago. Daimler killed it off about a year from production.

Great discussion

I don't believe for a second they would actually make this vehicles I do believe it would rock the market if they did and priced it around $40K

QUOTE=Z O O R O P A......What would be a reasonable price and what do you think Jeep would realistically offer the Africa for? -< $45k + options (the hard rock is $39k base)/ >

Would there be different levels of trim/equipment at different price points? <No - it's a model like the Rubicon ($35.5k) + options truck (stereo, trim, add-ons like roof rack etc) />

or would it be a limited run to keep prices inflated and have prestige? if its the same wheel base, <no i think i would slot in above the rubicon series/>.
