It took me a couple of weeks to get this done but here it is. I used 100lb drawer sliders 1/2" plywood and plenty of 3/4" and 1" square stock. Let me know what you think!

This is the panel that is the false floor and has T-nuts on the reverse side for easy bolt in of all the components:

This is the "armor" I built for the fridge and a way to secure other loose items:

Button head bolts holding the drawer section down to the panel:

Because of the clearance issues with the drawer, I had to router reliefs into the bottom of the drawer

Looks great Ken, when can I get one! I was thinking about that type of system on my drive home from the show today! Where did you find the drawer sliders?
Good meeting you at the show as well.

It was good to meet you to! I got the drawer sliders at Home Depot. Both sets are rated for 100lbs each and are 22 inches long. I think there are also 24" sliders as well however, I didn't get those as they were only rated for 75lbs.

I was thinking how I can make up some jigs so that I could build these quickly for everyone since there is a need for them!:coffeedrink:

Just for kicks, what would someone be willing to pay for something like this? That is with welds cleaned up and made to look a little nicer...

I love the temporary floor idea, that is the best part of your build in my opinnion. Nice work. I do wood working and that is now on my to do list.

I'll actually look into the possibility of making a few of these if anyone is truly interested when I get back from our trip at the end of August. I am also planning on adding some turnbuckles for lateral security on off-pitch trails.

Take a look at the pricing for the ARB, ENGEL etc. slides and mark your price down from there accordingly.
Although I would think you look at getting some heavier duty slides if you start selling them. That fridge is around 45 pounds empty is it not? I would imagine end users could jump over 100 pounds pretty quick with some heavier items inside.

Thanks for the input. I guess our three week road trip will be a good test of the 100lb sliders. We'll see how it goes! Our will be full the whole time.

Do you have any kids?
Let one (or two) of them hang off the cooler in the extended position and see if it holds up. That would be a good durability test for the rest of us with kids, because you just know it's going to happen eventually! lolol

nice work on the slide, i have one question. i saw you made a spot for a locking pin to keep the slide closed, do you have one to lock the slide open? i think that might be a good idea since you're not always parked on level ground and don't want to be fighting the slide while trying to get stuff out of the fridge.

that said i'm interested in one for mine.

That looks awesome. I am kind of on the fence about the cage. It is really cool and you can tie things to it. As for protecting the fridge I dont know. I have stood on mine and it was fine. Also you cant get drinks on the road with out pulling over and sliding out the fridge.
