Yeah, ran it solo. That picture was taken up on a hill overlooking the main Fortuna Mine site. I am going to start adding captions to the pictures.

El Camino del Diablo

Yes, it is a really cool place. I followed your link, and I belive we saw you on Saturday, as you passed us at Papago Camp were we had lunch.

My wife and I started from Wellton, so we did not get to the mines. It was an awsome experience!! I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Great pictures! Did you encounter deep sand on the trails?

I had read in a couple places that the Pinta Playa sands around the Pinacate lava flow and the sands on the west side of the Tinajas Altas was pretty deep. But I didn't come across any sands I would even bother airing down for.

heh, sweet! Yeah, I saw you (well, actually only saw your wife) as we drove by. Yellow H3. Did you stop at Bates Well on your way out? Has the border patrol taken it over or what? We started to pull in, but got a funny look from a couple border patrol guys in front of their buildings, so we backed out.

Oh, and welcome to the portal. :p

Do you ever get the urge to just pull over at some arbitrary point in the road and hoof it up the nearest mountainside?

Living in the east, I'm used to heavily wooded terrain, usually impassable and rather monotonous - but every picture I've seen of western wilderness invites exploration, whether by car or by foot, in almost every direction.

I would be like a vivacious Julie Andrews whirling atop a perilous, boulder-strewn mountain top, arms raised toward a crystalline blue sky ... a beacon of mirth and merriment.

Well, our job is done here. C'mon out. I'll be glad to show you some of those perilously beautiful mountains :D

Seth, nice job.

Ha ha... every time I look at them man. The thought of either hiking over them or driving my truck over them crosses my mind.

A little late here, but your photos, as usual, are outstanding. Nice write up and a cool solo adventure too. I would love to do a trip on that road as well sometime.

And looking through your site I missed the Belize adventure too....?!? Am I so self absorbed (quiet MFS) that I'm missing these or are you keeping a low profile on your extra cool adventures?

Good stuff d00d! Maybe in '07 our paths will cross in the middle of nowhere -

It's true.

The second part. Seth isn't nearly as shamelessly self-promoting as the rest of us. He has pride and a keen sense of class.
