If you're going to be buying an air compressor for your barn, why not just get the air compressor and knock together a small shelter for it, sort of like those plastic things Sears, Home Depot, etc. sell for garden tools? Then get an air impact wrench.

Good thought...have a small garage now so probably could find a corner to put it in...just don't want to run lines until I get a more permanent space...
What size tank are people running...
 
I use the Ryobi 18v Lithium impact gun. For $99 is it leaps and bounds beyond the HF and the Goodyear 24V versions.

I have been using it for Rally Service for a bit now.
 
We have been talking about this for desert racing, a expensive one of an inexpensive one. Do the guys that have the Harbor Freight ones like them, do they last, etc?

Just to clarify. My HF electric impact is 110 volt. It's not cordless. I have no experience with an HF cordless electric impact.
 
I have Air, and an Air impact gun and all that. But I never use it. I ALWAYS use my Snap-On 18V cordless. That thing is a BEAST.
 
I love my mastercraft cordless impact. It's never failed to knock a lug nut loose so far and I always snug it up with a torque wrench anyway.
 
One of the worse things about closing up shop and moving from MD to CA is that somewhere in the mix the 36v Li-Ion Dewalt impact went missing :(.. Think its in a buds storage unit.

That thing was awesome for doing gear setups (like using randy's puller) and changing brake pads for track days.

Currently have a corded Craftsman one, but it doesn't have the same kick to it. For harder stuff I just end up starting the Jeep and using the air one lately since I'm lacking a shop compressor as well currently.
 
Great info...think I am going to go with a cordless...then when I get the shop put together I can use the cordless for travel...
