So, I picked up a CB, just because I think they are awesome. I *could* have gotten a larger antenna, but I went with this one as it is magnetic and removable. I will get a four footer from my dad's barn and put a fixed mount on the rear of the Jeep next time I am up in Winnebago, IL.

I will take picks as I go and post those up when it is in. I need to be able to find a tuner locally. My dad has one, but he is three hours away.

Also, I will be trimming the lower half of the rear leather seat and trying to get that in as well.

First I put the bracket in with the self tapping screws. I put the unit all over the Jeep trying to find the best place for it. With it on the dash it blocked too much of the forward view. I thought about reverse mounting it to the over head, but I couldn't see the display. In the end this was the best spot for it, exactly where I mounted one in my 1993 Jeep.

Excellent view from the drivers seat. Even the passenger can use it.

I plugged it into the fuse that controls the AM/FM Radio. I tucked all the wires under trim pieces. I ran the antenna wire out of the passenger door by cutting the slightest slit in the rubber.

It was able to hear the truckers on Route 57 from my driveway, but I will still tune the antenna for best performance.

hows the little antenna working for you? i tried one similar on my old f150 and couldn't get any reception, bumper it up to a 4' firestik, eventually adding a second one to the other side just to even out the looks lol before i knew it i had more $$$ in antennas then what the radio cost, recently bought a 3rd 3' firestik for my wj

edit: i see your comment now on the reception

Yesterday a branch fell on my jeep. It dented the top and knocked my cb antenna off. It hit the top so hard that I found out today that it knocked my rear view mirror off. I superglued it back on. I guess I am lucky it didn't break my front window.

Well the Jeep is being neglected this month. THe Mini Van (2005 Saturn Relay) needed a new starter and when I replaced it, I had the battery unhooked long enough to trip the PASSCODE theft system. It had to go into the dealer to clear that code. While it was there they found that my one year old battery was dead, so I went and picked it up and took it back to autozone to swap out under warrantee.

The Van was two releases behind on PCM updates so we did that at the same time. Supposedly it will clear up the hash shift from 1-2 and take care of the over surge during remote starting.

The price of the starter and then the service charges came out to just a little more than what I was going to spend on a front Hitch receiver. therefore it will wait until a later time for the new Jeep stuff.

So recently my son said there is a light on the dash, it has been there a few days. Now the Jeep isin't stating very will.

I check it out and the light says "check gauges" when I do I see I get 9 volts from the alternator. Well, that's just great.

So today I replaced the alternator and the serpentine belt. The trick is to go in from underneath and take one bracket off that hold the front of the alternator on. Luckily Advance auto had an alternator in stock. I thought about upgrading to a Grand Cherokee alternator, but decided I would just use an OME one after all. I don't run auxiliary lights and only have a brake controller and CB added as extra drain on the electrical system.

So another $130 on repairs, not bad really, and way, way less than a new car payment ;-)

Getting ready for camping this weekend. The jeep has just been driven, no other work on it lately. In June we head out for a 19 day trip to Colorado.

After camping in the rain this weekend we decided that the jeep is just not big enough. We have found a 1999 Suburban. We will sell the Jeep. We love it, it just isn't big enough....

I know, I know, we absolutely love it, but we just plane and simple need more space.

I am tinkering with the idea of keeping it, but in reality it will get sold.

Dont buy a chevy then, Buy a Grand Wagoneer! You're in the US man, you've got thousands of them. Every single vehicle older than 1989 is completely rusted through up here. Get a Wagoneer! dooo iittttt
