Anyone her have an Expedition One front bumper on a 2020+ Super Duty? If so, what winch did you buy. The recommend a Come-Up 12.5. but my rig needs something in the 16.5 range. Happy to get a Come-Up, Superwinch, or Warn. I just want to know it'll fit. Thanks!

I would be very Leary, their customer service and quality are terrible, there are a few lengthy topics on this forum if you search.

Noted!

It's the powder coating that has been an issue. They're shipping it raw and I'm getting it coated locally.

Solved the winch problem too. Come Up 16.5 will fit if the solenoid is moved.

I've done quite a few searches on this forum and the only even remotely recent posting seems to be here. It's hard to tell the current status of things, if nothing has changed from a few years ago I'd say it's a def no-go, however it looks as if Exp1 has made attempts to solve most/all of the issues that were discussed. I had talked to @Camcam1616 on insta about his experience with the bumpers and he said he loved them and was likely going to order again for his new build.

It seems as the primary issues (latches, parking sensors, powdercoat) have been resolved, at least according to them and I've heard of no recent data to disprove that. I'm not sure if their communication has improved at all.

I'll say it's very hard to tell what the real story is. I think the truth likely lies somewhere in the middle but it's clear that Exp1 didn't have good, or even passible, communication strategies. Hopefully that has improved as both them and AEV are the only companies that offer solutions I currently feel are solid for the use case.

I've seen an option from costal offroad, however they don't offer a front bumper option and I'm hoping to match, if only for aesthetic value.

Perhaps anyone that has purchased one within the last year or two can give some feedback, or someone can link here, or via PM, other recent purchases?

I have multiple customers with Expedition One bumpers and we have a shop Tundra with front and rear bumpers from them.

I've seen one Ram with a single problematic latch on one of the two swingouts. Never had anyone else complain about anything else. Not sure what ever happened with the latch issue, haven't seen the customer in a while.

I would personally consider their products without hesitation. I'm a bit leery of powder coating in general, seems like it's never going to last more than a handful of years, especially if you live somewhere with salt and brine on the roads.

I'd buy one raw and have it professionally painted or paint it myself.

With the ram, outside of the latch, did you notice any issues on fitment, rear park sensors, or powder coat? Some of the images in that previous thread I linked were pretty bad powder coat examples. I get the pros for paint, and may go that route, but was looking for something that was durable and low maintenance.

It's been a while since we've seen that customer but I remember specifically asking about the bumper and his only complaint was the latch. The bumper is probably only 2-3 years old at this point so I don't know if he would have had powder coat issues that early on.

In my experience, even on high end products like ARB bumpers, powder coating only lasts so long. I can only assume but I suspect ARB is using some of the higher quality powder coating available in the market and even then, a few years with a few rock chips and you will be looking at flaking and rust. The only way to address that is to pull the bumper, sandblast and recoat. I don't want to sink $500-$1000 into redoing powder coating every few years. I can use touch up paint if paint gets dinged.

That's a great point. I may end up ordering a raw one if I go down that route and then just painting it. Hopefully I can rattle can it nice :)

I have an Expedition One front bumper on my 07 F150 and love it. I drove to their shop in Utah and picked it up. They gave me a tour of the place and I was impressed with what they were doing. I installed it myself along with a Warn Zeon winch. They seem to be keeping up with new vehicles and are pretty innovative. No issues at all with quality on my bumper. Front.jpg
