We did! We cut the metal down so that it would all fit. this was the simplest and least intrusive method to resolve the issue.

Thank you very much for the answer. That's what I thought I was going to have to do if I ran into this issue. I appreciate the help and the picture.

What exactly is the point in the AR? Shotgun I can see for defense from Bears up in Alaska and such. but are you expecting a Platoon of Bears running at you? Just seems excessive, and those who know me know I tend to be the person on the excessive side.

Thats for us at home. I carry that rifle 150 days a year in my vehicle when out and about. We will only have the Shotgun on the trip this year.

The carbine is the most effective tool for the job - any defense job. Everything else is some sort of compromise, either for pattern (shotgun) or weight and concealment (handgun). Penetration, volume of fire, accuracy, range, ballistics, etc. If you are willing to carry a carbine around, it will always outperform the other options for personal defense. . .

No doubt they will only have the shotgun for Alaska, as getting a carbine into Canada would be, well, an adventure :)

I own a carbine here in Canada but I dont see a need to carry it around with me. Penetration? volume of fire? my 9mm will kill a bad guy just as quick as an AR15 and I wont be fumbling around with a big *** gun. FIBUA engagement would be horrible with an AR. They're simply overkill for personal defense, Fighting a revolution? Weapon of choice, home defense my 9mm does just fine, unless ofcourse I'm paranoid about the military invading my house and stealing my guns.... then the only solution is a M240B.

Thousand ways to skin a cat. Just like choosing an overland rig the gun you choose to carry is the one you like and suites your needs. I really like shooting and carring this rifle in the field. I do it often, I reload for this platform and spend a considereable amount of time using it. It has its advantages and disadvantages just like any vehicle you would choose. This is a way of life for us here at XO and we are making provisions for that way of life to have a secure and responsible way of carring out this freedom and responsiblity. We are not looking for debates here and do not want this to turn into a Gun debate of any sort.

Thanks-
Clay
