$25 per gun gets you a 60 day temporary registration to take firearms through Canada. No handguns are allowed though.

If that is the case don't leave it home:). I heard the ferry is always an option.

Looks good! Same direction I'm headed with my truck although mine will take more than a couple months lol.

Any reason you decided to stay away from a high clearance rear bumper?

my 9mm will kill a bad guy just as quick as an AR15

Not to get off topic but factually you are 100% incorrect. I have mountains of literature to back this up as well as close to 10 years treating gunshot wounds. Also, there is a metric ton of actual research data available online, search DocGKR as he is the industry expert. I can assure you a 9mm won't hold a candle to a 5.56 round from a carbine in terms of wound cavity, shock, blood loss, tissue damage, range, and overal lethality.

The whole travelling with a gun for protection is just so foreign to me, I just have never had an experience here in Australia or OS where it was ever an issue of any sort. Have you had the need to use a weapon for defence ?

Genuine question not having a go, just curious as obviously the American gun culture is very different than here. I understand the need/want for hunting

Anyway cool buildup can't wait for the next season of the show

Alaska is a harsh place, you wouldn't want to be left defenseless.

I agree with Husky. Oz is a magnificent place with death round every corner. But you're not going to be ran down by a Brown snake as you would a Brown Bear that can run 40mph and scale a tree faster than Superman. Plus, there is a few million acres of undeveloped land. Not that Oz doesn't have it's fair share.

I wasn't sure if they meant animal defence which I totally get, freaked me out camping in Canada and having bears come through the camp site. I was just getting the impression it was personal defence against humans

The Remington 870 is for bear defense. We do not foresee any conflicts with people. Not that it cant happen, but we are not overly anticipating a human threat. The real threat is Bear and moose. (far more moose attacks then bears as a general rule). We will be carrying a wide range of rounds for this gun, many of them non lethal.

On another note: One thing to mention here in regards to the other rifle that we carry ( AR 15) in the truck is that it is not primarily carried for defense purpose but rather a recreational purpose. We can use it within a defensive capacity if the need every arrises but that is not why we carry these rifles. We hunt and target shoot a great deal out of these vehicles and this is a wonderful way to carry those arms when out and about. Please dont over think our intentions.

It does sometimes... We would all like to believe that the traveler we come across is going to be the great guy we all are and offer a beer but in reality you just never know what is going to happen and where. For instance, think about the Park Ranger that got shot in 2012 over a routine traffic stop. what if he had gotten into the woods before getting pulled over? I know a few people that like to travel down by the border and have had issues with "newly acquired soon to be citizens". Makes sense to have a firearm sometimes. On the other hand, if your in really remote wilderness, meet a crisis of some kind, and need food, that rifle is going to be a lot more helpful than the pistol or shotgun.
