So, are you driving through Canada?
If so the chances of secondary inspection will increase if they see your gun mounts.
Our rules are that your gun must be unloaded (including any side saddle or buttstock shell carriers)
and you can't leave it unattended if in plain sight in the vehicle.
I understand the need for a gun in Alaska as your bears are nowhere near as polite as those found
in Canada.

I'm pretty sure these guys have done their research on the regs of bringing firearms through canada.. I mean, this is Clay we're talking about here. When have they not planned for every eventuality?

Did you have any issues with the HAWSE fairlead that came with the Warn winch? I've got the ARB bumper and have yet to install my Warn Zeon winch, I heard of some issues with the fairlead sitting too low on the bumper with different winch companies. Thank you

If I may add to this: I had the same concerns with the ARB on my 5th gen 4runner. When I switched to synthetic line, I also wanted to go with the cleaner look of a hawse style fairlead. Most of the ones available on the market have a much lower profile than what I wanted, as the mounting plate for the fairlead on these bumpers is recessed a good 2 inches into the bar. After much searching, I decided that the Viking 350 series fairlead was the best, and possibly only non custom made option for my needs. The issue is that Viking no longer stocks these and could not give me a firm date on their next production run. If you search around, there are a handful of off road parts distributors that still have a few in stock (simply because most folks either don't know about them, want to pay for them, or don't need a fairlead with such a high radius).
I ended up getting mine from Quadratech, as they were probably the 4th company I contacted and the first with any in stock. If this is the route you want to take, I definitely recommend looking into this particular product.
Note: I did have to source my own mounting hardware (easily found at ACE hardware) since the mounting bolts supplied with the fairlead were not long enough to work with the ARB an my winch (Warn 9.5 xp)

Here is a quick peak of the final product. Lots of installs yet to post and some yet to come in. The truck here is not quite finished. Dual battery, long range automotive, maxtrax, tire swing outs, roof rack install etc... are all yet to be posted.

1. Damn that thing turned out nice
2. Wish I had all the monies to do that to my truck
3. Thanks for updating the original post
4. Do you think you could give the first post some more detailed specs?
5. What led bars did you go with?
6. As always faithfully Sub'd, can't wait to keep following this. And keep up the stellar work

NAV

Clay,

tried to squeeze in a question a couple pages ago but I think it kinda got lost in the firearms discussion. What are you guys using for a Navigation setup in the new rig? I and another guy on the thread remember seeing an ipad/tablet setup in the old truck. Is that just transferring over from the old taco? Or are you guys planning something completely new? Also what topo/ mapping software are you guys using? Hope I am not jumping the gun on a future build update.

Thanks,
