Glad to see you are enjoying your 109. I tell ya what, when you are going along in beautiful scenery like that, you simply enjoy it.

You could go with the standard switchover tap, but these are prone to the occasional leaking due to their age.
That's why it's better off getting just a standard aftermarket valve that's easy to rebuild, though even the old ones like on my Lightweight are pretty simple.

The standard oil filter is yes...a bit of a pain to change, however the capacity of the original is a lot larger than a canister type. I often thought of switching to a spin on as well, but stuck with the original.
Yeah, I've thought about it a few times since I first read about them in '75 in a Petersen's book, but just never felt it was a compelling enough conversion. Changing the element just isn't that bad.

Yeah, 109 in the wet. You realize how crappy those wipers are. Glad to see the 109 out and about. How are you liking it so far?

BTW, Rain-X brings the awesome. And stick the bottle in the truck as it lasts for about 3 hours. No-fog on the inside is equally happy.

I agree, Rain-X is your friend, although I find it lasts more like 3 weeks, not hours. After spending a week driving through English mist, I really couldn't figure out why the British couldn't come up with better wipers for so long.

I shall clarify, after having the wipers run for 3 hours constantly, it wears off. If you don't use the wipers then yes, Rain-X lasts for a long time.

Mainly because we are so used to it! :)
