I have a $15 long handled shovel attached to the trailer. Have had it for 20 years on various vehicles. Great for recoveries in mud, snow and sand. Also good for digging holes and getting hot coals from the fire without burning the bejesus out of your legs.
Entrenching tools and short handle spades pack easier and I have them too but I never use them. The kids do though
