Well here I am still trying to decompress from this great adventure. I had an outstanding time! Thank you very much Scott. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. Quick Thanks to all that took part in this years Expo. I just thought I should share my version of the Jeep launch for those that were not there. It really goes back to when we were gathered next to the driving course and Scott is telling us all that Brian will run the course, we will walk the course and then if there are any questions Scott will answer them. So here we are watching Brian about to take off on the driving section. We are told by Scott that the course needs to be run in 4lo. So I am thinking to myself well we both have Jeeps, 4 to 1 gear reduction, 4:88 gears, you know I don't think we will be going around this track very fast. Well Brian takes off and he is really moving. I found out later that he had taken off in 3 or 4 gear. So here we are Brian is really moving around the track. The audience is looking on and Scott comely says “Brian is going about 60% of what you guys should be doing.” The portal group is now looking at each other and then back to Brian who is about to finish the course. All of a sudden Brian hits the last little bump and launches his Jeep about 20 feet. Front tires are easily 6 feet in the air. The only photograph that I have seen of this launch is a picture of a tree with 2 tires hanging below one of the branches. Well as quickly as the Jeep launched it came down almost as if it was a trophy truck. All four wheels contacting the earth at the same time no big bang just one smooth landing. Well a little long winded but after seeing Brian launch and come down so perfect. I just had to give it a try. So I hit the launch pad and went for a great ride. Been there done that. Got my Adventure Trailer Wings. Probably won't see me doing it again. Just thought I would share so you guys that were not there don't get the wrong idea. I usually drive well with in my comfort zone.
Here are a few photographs that Miles took.
Finding camp via the waypoint and the riverbed.
Winch Class
Just when you thought the trail was easy. We would come across an obstacle.
New rock/camp lights. Thanks to all that helped me get these installed before the run. They came in handy.
