Tower: "Rubi Heavy, you have been cleared for immediate landing"

Rubi Heavy: "Copy that, Tower. Be advised, Emergency oxygen and a clean pair of shorts needed once we taxi to a complete stop..."

I crack myself up!! :xxrotflma

Man there are some great photos in this thread. One thing I noticed, however, is the lack of white Tacoma's. ;) I'm going to have to keep this on my calendar for next year if my truck is up to spec by then, looks like a wild time!

Great photos Captain Coors :iagree:

Nice indeed. But be glad you didn't hit "the cattle guard" when I did.....as you know, I left the group at Scott's request to check out the scheduled camp site as the group was dealing with the redneck. I came to the cattle guard as the sun was setting, and couldn't see a damn thing through my cracked, weld-splatter pitted, bug encrusted windshield....I had my head out the window, trying to shade my eyes with one hand, driving with the other.....and I remember thinking something to the effect of "they're gonna LOVE this".....

Well here I am still trying to decompress from this great adventure. I had an outstanding time! Thank you very much Scott. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. Quick Thanks to all that took part in this years Expo. I just thought I should share my version of the Jeep launch for those that were not there. It really goes back to when we were gathered next to the driving course and Scott is telling us all that Brian will run the course, we will walk the course and then if there are any questions Scott will answer them. So here we are watching Brian about to take off on the driving section. We are told by Scott that the course needs to be run in 4lo. So I am thinking to myself well we both have Jeeps, 4 to 1 gear reduction, 4:88 gears, you know I don't think we will be going around this track very fast. Well Brian takes off and he is really moving. I found out later that he had taken off in 3 or 4 gear. So here we are Brian is really moving around the track. The audience is looking on and Scott comely says “Brian is going about 60% of what you guys should be doing.” The portal group is now looking at each other and then back to Brian who is about to finish the course. All of a sudden Brian hits the last little bump and launches his Jeep about 20 feet. Front tires are easily 6 feet in the air. The only photograph that I have seen of this launch is a picture of a tree with 2 tires hanging below one of the branches. Well as quickly as the Jeep launched it came down almost as if it was a trophy truck. All four wheels contacting the earth at the same time no big bang just one smooth landing. Well a little long winded but after seeing Brian launch and come down so perfect. I just had to give it a try. So I hit the launch pad and went for a great ride. Been there done that. Got my Adventure Trailer Wings. Probably won't see me doing it again. Just thought I would share so you guys that were not there don't get the wrong idea. I usually drive well with in my comfort zone.

Here are a few photographs that Miles took.

New rock/camp lights. Thanks to all that helped me get these installed before the run. They came in handy.

Link for this coming soon - in the meantime, I can email a PDF booklet to anyone who likes - it's a version of our instruction spiel that we did for educators and parents - to get us all outdoors more!

Also - we talked about for extended trips to be sure to have good adventure travel insurance, including air evac and access to medical help - I have found by far the best rates and coverage to be from STA Travel. It's a student travel organization but you don't need to be a student to buy their insurance.

Look for the Insurance link in the box on the left called "Search and Book"

Thanks Scott and everyone!

Wow -- it's taken me 3 days to make it all the way through this thread!! I've only managed to get about 15 minutes in my first few days at my new job to surf the ExPo website. Still don't have internet at the place we're renting. And I can't think of a better way to relocate from Tucson to Flagstaff than via Wickenburg to Bumble Bee (or the "scenic route" as I liked to call it). And after spending 4-5 days in the backcountry with all of you, I feel like I've known you for a much longer time. It's good to now know the people behind the screen names! I was definitely blessed to have Blake as my teammate for the competition. And it was awesome to be a part of team B for the hill climb / bridge building event. And even better than that was to see the entire group come together as a team to help folks get through that tough part of the trail near that mine! I look forward to future events. And if any of your are coming through the Flagstaff area - give me a holler. I have a lot of exporing to do around here....
