ExPo Bikepacking Routes Resource

I thought it would be a good idea to post up some of our favorite bikepacking routes. Bikepacking is really catching on these days. A few amazing trips have been posted on these forums and it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to those routes so others can enjoy them.

If you've done a bikepacking trip that you think is worth sharing, please post it here. The format is wide open. If it's just a rough recap, that's fine. GPX files are fantastic, and photos are the perfect thing to wet the appetite.

Or, even if you have a rough idea of a backpack route you think would be a great trip, post that idea. Let's share some ideas and get out there!

I ran into a guy riding from Huntsville Alabama to new Orleans the other day while visiting the area, he was still about 90 miles out when I ran into him. Best part was he was on a 3 speed cruiser! He wasn't going anywhere fast but he said that he had rode a bike just like it to Alaska when he was a bit younger. I think he came down and hugged the coast for the most part. I would love to do a ride up A1A, I think it would be a great experience.

So many on my list! I'd still like to do El Camino de Diablo, also have a route picked out from Cave Creek to Prescott and back mostly dirt. Arizona Trail of course!

Stay tuned for Cave Creek to Prescott. Here have been discusions about such rides. :)

I mapped out a route from Westworld to Prescott with help from people on here. I had planned to do it last Feb. while I was at the Arabian horse show but the weather didn't cooperate. I returned to AZ in June and while riding the Black Canyon trail I thought I read a sign at the trailhead stating the trail is projected to finish in Prescott. Is this true? If so, what a great ride that would be.

Cheers!

I've ridden from my house to connect multiple trails that I didn't have enough energy to do in one day. Not really any amazing route (unless you like to climb all day) but you can really turn anything into a multiple day trip if you try. Mine have been close to home in Basalt, CO
Here is my simple set up

Of course there are always the stalwart routes:

- Kokopelli Trail
- Colorado Trail
- White Rim Trail
- Arizona Trail (I don't always hear great things about this one.)
- San Juan hut system

I'd also like to do a Flagstaff, AZ to Sedona trip sometime in the late spring, if anyone is down. Probably just a one-nighter.

Heidi, That Camino route looks like a fantastic winter time route, but....what about the sand??? Looks like a sonova beach.

I've been lusting to do it by bike ever since experiencing it by truck a few years ago. My dream has been to either one day afford a used Pugs and run it on that, or hope to find someone with a Pugs/Mukluk/etc to borrow to run it. Neither has really worked out so far!

Kokopelli is also on my list, along with White Rim and the Divide.

Maybe around Overland Expo timing like we briefly talked about? I'd really like to ride Sedona
We've kicked around a Flag to Prescott bikepack trip through Sedona. I little mix of singletrack and service road? Or, a one-nighter in that general area.

Who else would be up for an ExPo bikepack around the time of the OvExpo?
