About three months ago we purchased an M1102 that already was a great starting point to slightly modify into a camper for us. We purchased it, and brought it home for the buildup. This is it where we picked it up in storage. Awesome starting point IMO, with GREAT bones.
Once home, the first order of attack was to extend the hitch while also allowing for swappable attachment types, height, and retaining the hydraulic brakes.
I ended up duplicating the pattern of the original hitch slide mechanism. Functionally it's the same for the braking system, but now with the added adjustability I wanted.
Once that was completed, I wanted to add an amber clearance light, so I found a NOS military LED set and mocked it up, drilled holes and got it temporarily mounted for fitment before removing for coating.
Next order of business was propane. Since everything I cook with, heat with, and warm water with will use it, and we plan on being off grid for extended periods. I decided two big 30's would work just fine. Overkill at its finest. I used Aluminum and some stainless braces to make my mount and then started plumbing.
I then made a quick cabinet on the driver side that will eventually be our kitchen area to put our cooking equipment in for this shakedown run. And threw in our old Norcold and mattress, and took off for 4 days.
Once we got back about two and a half weeks ago, I had some of the parts I ordered show up. Doors, and aluminum plate as well as some 2x2 structural aluminum that I'm huck riveting in once it's all mocked up properly.
None of this is fully in for the final time. Just mock assembly of everything so I can blow it apart and paint and line-x things later. But I was able to pull the passenger side roll up doors for the .125 wall aluminum sheet, and get it in temporarily.
My tires that were on backorder finally came in as well, so I had them installed on another set of Power Wagon wheels and threw them on. They fit like they were made for it.
And this get us to current. I worked on it some this morning to get this one lockable access door in. Measure ten times, cut once. ?
Now I need to put the windows in on the side in front of this door. They will be emergency exit windows on both sides with screens for ventilation and tinted.
I also have a Bush Company 270 Max awning to put on the driver side that I got from Midguard Adventure here in Texas.
I'm actually taking the water heater out if there and redoing the propane connection to do just that. I only need one connection inside for the heater now.
However, thank you! It was advised to me also by the guys at B&W hydraulic that is remaking all new brake lines and hoses for me. That was their concern as well. I also bought a tri-gas monitor I will be installing.
