Don't you just love this build thread.:wings: Everything about it, ( perhaps not the front window) job well done.:drool:

Thanks so much. I appreciate the compliment. There are a lot nicer trailers on here of course but I really do like mine. I really like the size of mine. I understand that people want small and compact but being a bigger guy there is no way I would want anything smaller than this. At the Overland Expo I saw a lot of cool trailers but they were all way to cozy for me. If I can't sit up in my trailer I'm out. And mine was 1/4th the cost. My next one will be the same size. My only differences will be materials and I will probably do a prefab door even though mine is super solid and works great.

Went out for another couple nights of Camping and Mountain biking with my boys before heading back to Los Angeles for work. I think I like this better every time we take it out. Also I can't think of a gas stop or camp spot where we have stayed that we haven't had people come ask us about it. Everyone thinks it's so cool when you told them you built it yourselves. Thanks everyone on here for all your help. Can't wait to build another one.

Also had my wife make me some window covers. I can make this trailer pitch black inside during the day with these. They just Velcro right on to the carpet and work amazing. Ez on and off.

Watch This!
The A/C has been rock solid. Never moved an inch. I've been on some extended dirt roads that were washboarded out without issue. My trailer is only about a month old though so time will tell. I don't expect issues though. Seems solid and works great.

Couple of Questions.............

How did you secure your floor to the frame?
Where did you get your carpet and what is it called.............I know carpet but what kind?
What did you treat the underside of the trailer with?

Thanks for any and all help

Not to speak for the builder, but just to offer up help
Floor can be attached with carriage bolts to triangular braces welded in the corners of the frame,I also put a hefty bead of liquid nails in between also on my builds.
Carpet similar to that can be found at price club/Sam's club, outdoor carpet, also speaker box carpet works too, not certain what builder used, but that's what I've done on several trailers
As for the bottom, most hardware stores sell fence post sealant, or driveway asphalt that is "painted" on, works great and can be reapplied at any time it's needed.
Hope I didn't hijack

Thanks a bunch for your response.

Would you bolt down through the trailer and wood? or up?
Finding speaker carpet?? Thoughts on that?
Guy at the RV place tried selling me this stuff that cost 150 bucks!!
What would you suggest for the roof. Im covering everything in CPES first then truck bed liner

How did you secure your floor to the frame?

To secure the floor to the frame I did as follows. I used I believe 4" 1/2" bolts from bottom of frame through the 2x3 bottom plate on my floor. Remember I framed my trailer like you would a house with a top and bottom plate. Total overkill and to heavy but it's super solid. I used 4 bolts across the front and back and 5 down each side. Once again total overkill.

Where did you get your carpet and what is it called.............I know carpet but what kind?

I bought my carpet from Lowes. I won't even home for a few days but I think it was an indoor outdoor type low pile. It was light weight but not as light weight as speaker type carpet. I believe it was about $5 a yard so I was right around $100 for my entire trailer with leftover. I did the floor, walls and ceiling. I read a lot on how to get it to stick to the sides and roof and read contact cement works good. I bought a gallon but it would dry to fast for me to get it to stick to the walls. I ended up using spray adhesive and stapling. The spray adhesive works great. 100 times better than contact cement but it's expensive. I think like $15 per can and I used 4.

What did you treat the underside of the trailer with?
I used asphalt emulsion that I also bought from lowes. It goes on with a roller and is very thick. Spreads good and sticks well. Supposed to waterproof it very well.

Thanks for any and all help

See answers above after your questions. Also sorry for not getting back to you quicker. It's been super busy at work. How's your progress?

Op: how much do you roughly think you've got in the build now? Have you been keeping a tally? It looks great!

Sorry for the late reply. Been busy working and camping also. Another few days in the trailer is always good and a great stress reliever. I figure I have about $4-4500 into the trailer all in with the RTT. It's way overbuilt but I absolutely love it I think it's been out every week almost since I finished the build. Well technically it's still not finished but it's been going out a lot.

Sorry for the late replies. Can't seem to get a break at work since SoCal is on fire right now. No the last pic is from Gunlock Reservoir. The photo of my son on his mountain bike with the pine trees is Pine Valley though. You camped up there before? We love it up there.
