Turn on the AC and pur the temp range to hot to help defog windows even faster. Defrost does a short cycle where as max AC runs the compressor full time. Cold air is dry air.
Itll only hurt an already damaged windshield. A chip free windshield can handle it easy.
I'm assuming you've never seen cold enough weather.
It's extremely common up here Canada to crack a brand new windshield just from turning on the defrost.
The extreme heat difference from inside to outside causes the glass to expand at different rates and it cracks.
It happens starting at around -25C and gets worse and worse as you pass -40C/F.
I would never put any kind of heated liquid on my windshield in winter.

So what's safest to way to do it then? direct heat to floor vents and allow a slow cabin warmup for the windshield?
What fan upgrade ?
