Guys thanks for the imput.....Here is a better idea what it going to look like http://www.capetocape.org.uk/Amphib Develop.htm

I was thinking of using the pto and putting a propeller on it.....Seen this on an older landrover.. Not sure .....If I use a small outboard I could steer with it.

Going to be a fun project......

Any ideas are more than welcome

Read the thread about the raft that was constructed for the expedition that went down the ???? Road in the NWT last year.

That would be the Canol Heritage Trail. Canol is short for Canadian Oil. The road was built during WWII to establish the route for an oil pipeline from Norman Wells in the Northwest Territories south to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.

Here's the link to the thread discussing a recent expedition to drive the Canol Heritage trail, including the construction of a raft to cross a large river. The vehicle on the raft was winched across the river. Discussion of the raft starts on page 5, I believe

Right now my plan is to build something very similiar as this http://capetocape.org.uk/Irishsea.htm Not really a raft more like a pontoon boat... Yes I do believe getting into the water is going to be a tough task...
The pontoons will be lowered by hydraulics.... Once in the water I will be able to raise or lower the pontoons.....
This FG is going to be used in central America for tours/trips .....

I'd do a little studying of the success of the floating tanks used at Normandy. There were a lot of resources put into that project and I for one, wouldn't want to put my truck on the line with those odds of success.

I'm surprised nobody's put this up

http://www.wetruck.de/

Could give you some ideas.
It was up for sale by tender last month; here
I would have loved to know how much it went for.

(or maybe not, if it turns out that it was within my reach I'd kick myself for a long time after)

I dreamt a hell of a lot about an amphibious off-road motorhome, eventually concluding that the simplest (ahahaha!) would be to cut the armour off an OT64 SKOT and build a body onto the resulting hull/chassis.

But realistically, I kind of came to terms with just HOW much work is involved, and wanted a camper quicker. (insane laugh, I'm doing a hard side pop top 5.5 m long! quickly? I don't think so!)
Maybe for the next one...

I wonder where they put the fuel tanks on the Bison; it's based on a KAT, so the tanks have to be pretty large.

Hope the Bison inspires you a little,
and I'm sure you know of the great A to Z of amphis here

Go for it! The amphi landies aren't load carriers so the tubes don't need to be moved about; be careful to ensure sufficient flotation for the truck when it's laden, maybe do the camper build before the floater build, that way you won't get a nasty surprise.

Much luck, and will be following with interest.

That's exactly what I would do, just build a simple raft. Hang a small out board off the back, and rock on!!!! (don't forget the cooler full of beer)
