Field Bag? Ideas?

I owned quite a bit of Filson clothing when I worked in the timber indsutry - tin pants would last YEARS if treated right and the old tin hats just got better looking with time. As far as bags go, never had one so I cant say.

You all are too classy for me. I'm a cordura and fastex type of guy...

All my bags and packs are of this variety and have served me well on my worldwide deployments.

All I know is that if Maxpedition doesn't have a bag that fits your needs.. nobody will. http://www.maxpedition.com/

I like them very much. Very multi-purpose :ylsmoke:

I have a couple of these for my ham radio bug out bags. Hold a lot of stuff, is very well made and inexpensive.

I have an old Filson field bag which works great and is silent to access. But I just went and looked at the current field bag, and good God - what's with the Fastex buckles? Et tu, Filson?

It's so disappointing to see the direction Filson is taking. At least so far the old style Field Bag is available as well as that thing with the fastex buckles:

To the OP (I see this is a pretty old thread...), the Field Bag above would probably be excellent for you. Easier access than the zip-up carry on version.

I should probably jump on a Filson medium duffle soon while the "real thing" is still made. Pretty soon they'll all be made out of nylon "twill" offshore - like this stuff:
