field knives

Since I fly home to AZ often, and it is hard to carry knifes on a plane (I try to go carry on only now), I have two sets that I carry. When I'm here in NC I carry a Cold Steel as my pocket knife and a Gerber LMF II as my fixed blade.

When I return to AZ I keep an HK P2000 as my pocket knife and a USMC Ka-Bar for my fixed blade.

My daily carry knife is:

Benchmade N690 (Taiwan made)

Straight blade is: Cold Steel SRK

I have many more; but these are the two that are with me most of the time.

The only knife I carry absolutely all the time is a keychain Victorinox.
Is there a prize for having the smallest blade?

If I'm out and about, I'll carry a Gerber Multi-tool. I end up using the pliers at least 5x as often as the blade.

No pics, but my daily carry is a CRKT M-16 (weekdays -small weekends- large) , plus I have a S&W Extreme Ops attached to the pack.
Have a Blackjack, Cold Steel , a few Ontario Spec Plus knives, and a few others that I can't think of.
Generally just pick what is there for when we head out to the outdoors.

Ho, what sharpening method was used here. This doesn't appear to be the Edge Pro Apex.

Either it's been sharpened quite often, or something more abrasive was used.

Or am I completely wrong, and your every day carry gets used quite a bit?

TD

BTW, I love my Edge Pro system. A bit slow, but perfect every time.

I have an older Benchmade CQC-7/970SBT. It has served me well, but is a bit large for my daily carry. I would if I could, but I don't. I need to have the edge re-worked, it has had a lot of use.

Daily use, is a Benchmade Mini-Ambush. A little thick for my taste, nice to have though.

I too love knives, but not obsessed..............

Fellow knife owners! This poor man named Absolute is crying out to us for encouragement and reassurance. Notice his profession of love of knives and denial of obsession with knives all in the same sentence! What a poor, confused Soul!

Brother Absolute! Embrace your inner need for Sharp Steel! Comfort thyself with multiple purchases! Forsake the False God of Few Purchases and freely obsess over the latest steel, locking mechanisms or large fixed blades.

Draw comfort from your fellow Enthusiasts Of The Blade! Revel in the worship of Dangerous And Pointy Blades!!

Can I get an AMEN from this here Congregation????

HALLELUJAH!!!

I'm finding this thread very interesting. I grew up with a knife collecting step father and he gave me plenty over the years.

While a novel knife is nice to hold and admire they seldom feel good when actually using them.
For example, when I was in the military I was issued with the knife in the middle of the top row, and I took a knife that he gave me (Far right. Mine was grey though).
For practical use in the bush I didn't like the balance and feel (blade too light) and ended up using a plain two bladed Swiss army knife that we got in Christmas hampers.
A knife is only great if it is practical and comfortable when in use. Those two in question were too big and bulky for menial tasks and too light for cutting branches etc

so much Benchmade love...

Tony,

that was a bad pic, here's a better one (not by much):

I use the EdgePro as well. The faded black coating is indeed from the constant use. I am packing orders all day, and I have to cut lots of cardboard for padding. My 710 is really showing some aging. :) I love it.

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one with a "Knife addcition".....
Hi, My name is Matt and I love knifes..... :xxrotflma :jump:

With all this Knife talk, what do you guys use to keep an edge on them.

I like the Eze-Lap diamond stone.....have one at home and 1 at work. Especially since I have to sharpen my lil Kershaw 1600 every othre day due to cardboard use.....

The KaBar is a light knife but gives a lot of blade for backpacking without the weight. They are obtained fairly cheaply so I beat the heck out of them.

The Glock on the far right is best used as a tent peg or as a gift to someone who knows diddly about knives...
