A knife that I really liked, and unfortunately I mislaid it, was a White Hunter. It was a gift from stepdad back in the late 70's. Now THAT was a knife.

Fellow knife owners! This poor man named Absolute is crying out to us for encouragement and reassurance. Notice his profession of love of knives and denial of obsession with knives all in the same sentence! What a poor, confused Soul!

Brother Absolute! Embrace your inner need for Sharp Steel! Comfort thyself with multiple purchases! Forsake the False God of Few Purchases and freely obsess over the latest steel, locking mechanisms or large fixed blades.

Draw comfort from your fellow Enthusiasts Of The Blade! Revel in the worship of Dangerous And Pointy Blades!!

Can I get an AMEN from this here Congregation????

HALLELUJAH!!!

Thanks for encouragement teotwaki!!

Sure I've been known to splurge on some new D2 or S90V and even some 440c, but I wouldn't call that an obsession!! LOL!!

AMEN!!

A stainless steel Spyderco Delica combo blade has been my companion for almost 10 years now. (scraped photo, but mine has worn well). I have what I believe is version 2, they are on version 4 now with some subtle changes.

Plus a Spyderco Ladybug combo blade on my keychain for the past 15 years or more. That think holds an edge so well.

My favorite field knife is one that my younger brother made me. It's a one-off, but he has a great lineup of custom knives that he makes by hand (shameless plug). He's a true artisan, and has been featured in knife-specific periodicals such as Blade magazine and others. The pictures on his website don't do the actual pieces justice. If you check out his site, keep in mind that he's a knife maker, not a web guy. :D

EDC is a Kershaw 1550. For a fixed blade I generally like my D. H. Russell Canadian Belt Knife or a Cold Steel SRK. Like most everyone else I've got a bunch of different knives though. Various fixed blades and folders including several automatics (legal here for emergency services types), that I occasionally carry.

I'm still trying to find the perfect knife though. :peepwall:

I'm quite impressed with CRKT's knives and would definitely buy another.

I have carried a CRKT every day for many years and they are a great value. Many of their good knives are priced under $80. Recently carried an M16 and now an M21.

I like the Fallkniven F1. I've got two of them (one in each of two hiking packs. Each is sheathed in a custom LH leather sheath (as a lefty, I want my knife on that side) which holds a firesteel as well. For a very useful folder, I still have two Buck 501's which look like a mini 110 Folding Hunter. Here's a to the site of the guy who makes the sheaths, JRE Industries (which is one guy working out of his shop). Scroll down to "FALLKNIVEN F1 TACTICAL GUNDY SHEATH" to see three photos of the sheath as well as the knife.

Hey guys,

I have used many different types of knifes with me into the woods, but now I never leave pavement without my Leatherman Surge http://www.leatherman.com/multi-tools/full-size-tools/surge.aspx and my Leatherman k502 lock blade knife http://www.leatherman.com/knives/retired-knives/k502x-k503x.aspx -- i know that the Surge weighs a little bit more than other multi tools, but i carry both of them on my belt so i don't really care about the added weight.

and on a good note - Overland Journal said that the over-all winner of their multi tool test was the Surge. I knew there was a reason that I liked it so well.

Well I'm luckier than most, my GF WORKS FOR GERBER KNIVES here in Portland!!!! I have so many knives it's really quite rediculous. I'll post pics if I get a chance, but I carry:

a TorchII Daily

and I have their Big rock Camp knife in the truck at all times.

834246_d.jpg

A Rescue cutter in the truck as well and the EOD pliers with Rem Grit blade. I just ordered a Hinder Rescue, anApplegate Combat folder, LMFII and an Obsidian...

I'm a total knife and tool junkie and I probably wouldn't have chosen Gerbers as my number one favorite knives, but the price is right and they make a good product.

My all time favorite though is the Gerber/Fiskars brush knife. It's like a machete with a long handle and a short thick blade with a hooked tip. I've cut big logs up with it in a pinch I'll see if I can find it on teh web somehwere>

Here it is:

These are what I wear everyday at work. (the ASEK only when I'm actually flying of course)

Outer left cargo pocket-Leatherman Micra
leathmicra2.jpg
(Special story to my micra. When I went through SERE training it was ridiculously hot and my hair was pretty long. I had a guy in my group cut my hair w/ the scissors on the micra! He did a pretty good job considering. Unfortunately he was piloting the Chinook that crashed on 18 September leaving behind his wife and unborn son. 1LT Robert Vallejo II was a good man.)

Inner thigh knife/panel pocket-Automatic pilots knife w/ strap cutter.

Outside right ankle/calf-ASEK system

Right front pocket-Spyderco Delica 3 w/ combo blade and my initials engraved (this is the only one I carry away from work too)

I used to carry an original leatherman on my belt at all times but lost the sheath and never got around to replacing it.
