Finally...cleared customs

Gray Market stuff seems like such a huge hassle. I'm assuming AZ is more accepting of these types of imports than CA. Will this be something that can easily be registered for street use?

Cool truck. Definitely don't see too many of those around. That's not a hi-cap, though, is it? (Looking at your signature.) I thought the hi caps had the wider bed?

Not a HCPU. They have a seperate cab much like a typical American pickup.

nothing grey...100% legal, will even go thru emissions.

Actually, that was my first reaction, too. Then I got curious and looked it up in wikipedia:

A grey market or gray market also known as parallel market[1] is the trade of a commodity through distribution channels which, while legal, are unofficial, unauthorized, or unintended by the original manufacturer.

Gray market doesn't mean illegal, it just means it wasn't intended for this market. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the marketing machine may try to make us thing it's bad, and even illegal. It probably means you won't get a factory warantee, but I doubt that's an issue on a '83 truck...

Great find on the truck! Are you going to post up more pix?

One of -if not the last year for sliding windows. Nice find, how is the frame and bulkhead?

Plenty in the UK!:wings:

It's a standard Truck-Cab 110 with 3/4 rear canvas. HiCaps have a separate rear body that sticks out from a little behind the doors, so they didn't usually have wheel arch spats, and have a significant overhang past the rear cross member. Look at the one in the first Tomb raider film for a good example (though the wide, offset wheels used on that particular one meant they had to fit rear wheel arch spats, too).

Good luck with it - a 1983 in that condition will have been reasonably well looked after - most have long since died - but the UK salts its roads heavily in winter, utilities like this are often ex-farm vehicles and are usually caked underneath with mud and manure (acidic), and many were kept in costal areas: go over the chassis, bulkhead and door frames carefully.

Yeah. They even have a dumper bed option too, don't they? I've toyed with the idea of importing a hi cap to haul stuff around.
