First off-road outing with the Conqueror Compact

Hey all,

Putting up some shots of the Compact first dirt de-virgining. All went well except a few issues.

1) Need to take the front wheel completely off. Bent the crap outta mine, and it was tucked up pretty tight

2) All you owners might want to change the upper shock mount bolts with some Grade 8's. They bent so much the right side shock broke and the left is on its way.

3) The water pump won't fit down the hole...what do I do?? Anybody else experience this??

Other than that it tracks awesome and I've got the set up down to about 3 min. And I absolutely love the room down below, great place to get out of the elements and the pup loves it.

Sweet trailer. however instead of replaceing the bolts adjust your bump stops because if your bottoming out your shocks that bad then something is gonna give.

I just use the petcocks in the rear for water until I figure out a pump solution. I put adapters on them to make them normal hose size and have brass caps from Ace Hardware.
If you want a hot shower, heat up some water and put it in a bucket; hang the pump in there...

I guess I haven't hit as nasty a trail as yours yet. Then again, I take it mighty slow on the trails with the trailer.

Great pix!

Wow, you are killing me! It is killing me not getting out with mine yet... great pictures, thanks for sharing. I read somewhere that the pump doesn't fit because of the "goop" used to seal the fill tubes. Somebody said they cleaned it up and it fit.

Wesel123:

If, when you are pulling the front wheel up, ... you will pivot that wheel away from the chassis rail a bit, ... it will pull on up so that the bolt that goes through the center of the wheel, will tuck right down in the internal "U" channel of the chassis rail. This will allow that wheel up enough to avoid damage, and will also give an added measure of protection from the adjustable wheel vibrating free and falling while driving.

You can take the wheel off, but it is simply a PITA to do every time.

Just thought you should know and that this may help.

Thanks

Dendy,

I'm not sure how the jack mounts for the Conquest, but the Compact is very different from the Base Camp. It doesn't use a pinch bolt method, but more of a clam shell that tightens around the top half of the jack. It's actually really easy to back the tightening bolt out and just remove the entire jack and stow in the front box. That's what I'd do.
