First off-road outing with the Conqueror Compact

Do you think one could lift the trailer and squeeze on a pair of 35" tires?
You could modify the fenders and do it.
Consider the tent though; if the trailer body goes higher, the tent will strain its frame to reach the ground. There's a little wiggle room but...

Do you know why they made that rear dutch door and having it swing upwards? Just trying to figure out what to do with my Conquest clone. Any disadvantage to just having it side opening? would make it much easier to hang the tire on it.

Something to clobber my head on... ...keeps the rain off the fridge; that's the only advantage I've been able to figure.
The little fold-down area acts as a good prop or table of sorts.
Aside from the rain on the fridge, I'd much rather it opened to the side; you'd need some very stout hinges though.

Ok thanks, I'll make it side opening, because my fridge will be in one of the front doors on the kitchen side, so it's more accessible, and under an awning.

Yeah, I have to look into the hinges. I found some at Faucher Industries that I like, but I need to figure out how strong they are.

Another silly question... do any of the door latches have interior opening levers just in case kids lock themselves in?

interior latches

No way to unlock the doors from the inside, but they do not latch just by shutting... you have to move a piece over to latch them... in fact, my seals are so fresh I use a rubber mallet to "latch" mine.

Well I got some more carnage to report. The metal plate that the hitch mounts to on the trailer is slightly bent due to the complete failure of the bolts holing it on. Luckily I'm in the phase of my project at work that all the structural steel is going up so I’m having it welded and will replace all the bolts with Grade 8's this weekend. I post some pics of the fix in a bit.

Im really suprised that they didnt install Grade 8 hardware from the factory! Im glad no one was hurt or killed do to possible loosing control of the trailer on a highway. I love the design layout. Big family sized tent and lots of storage.

I am surprised that you are having this issue. So far all the markings I have checked on my trailer indicate that they are grade 8.

Hmmm.

Mine too

I thought mine showed Grade 8 too... the three slashes right?
I read one post that the washers on the hitch were the problem, they were thin and bend, then allow the bolt to work loose, mine were thin washers, I plan to replace with nice thick ones.

I use the handy axe to close mine...

I'm not crazy about the coupler set-up. I'm thinking about having the AT coupler welded on. Anyone else considered that?

bolt?

Where was the bolt? On the hitch coupler or the triangle top plate?

I agree, none of those look like Grade 8 bolts... I also agree the design looks odd to me, but I see many of the SA and European trailers have the same coupler on top design. I would love an AT coupler or the 360 lock and roll one, but the CFO cut me off after buying the trailer ; )

The bolt was on the top mount plate if you look at one of the pics you see the Unistrut bolt I had to use.

I have a lock and roll in the garage and plan installing a 2" reciver in a few weeks. I have all the parts just not the time. I'll post up when done.

But Im pretty sure that the bolts are NOT grade 8's, they seem to be a very mid steel. Oh we'll in a few hours they ALL be 8's..God I love Ace Hardware they have all the good stuff.
