I would like to use 16guage sheeting but cost might keep me using plywood painted with restore deck paint. Or use marine plywood. I have see a guy on here talk about that restore stuff and I think it makes sense. I have also kicked around the idea of Trex deck boards. Bit that would be a lot of gaps to fill.
Well friends it's going to be awhile before more work can be done. Wrestling season has started, and my wife and I just started fostering two beautiful children. See you in the spring.
Well it was that time again, time to start working on the trailer. It felt good again, and it didn't take to long to get back into the groove. But I have to make some decisions about some side doors. Do I want fold down side doors (that can act as a table/counter area) or do I want a side box? Any suggestions? I can't imagine I am going to have that much stuff to fill the trailer, so do I really need extra space on this side?
I have decided to sheet the sides with high density plastic sheeting found at Menards it 1/4 inch and $54 for a 4x8 sheet. And I haven't decided if I want to floor to be 3/4 treated plywood or gauge steel. If I sheet the floor with plywood ill coat it with the restore deck paint to seal it.
Here are the side steps for the rear. Not sure if I like the overhang. But thanks to people suggestions I left 30" of space for upgraded tires some day.
Here is some more work I have started on. Just got my new hinges in, and they are not perfect as is so I had to make them work.
I needed one inch hinges, since I used one inch steel, hind sight I should have used barrel hinges but this is what I did. I took the rod from one hinge as welded together, used the same barrels I figured I needed a place to secure the rod so I extended it to allow for some cotter pins or a better idea I think of later.
Here is some more work done I feel like a got a lot accomplished today. Lid, back door and front drop down all hinged. Had to use some brainwork to figure out how to get the hinges to work.
How I arranged the hinges for the back door and front drop down
Back door hinges
Close up of the hinge for the front drop down.
Pulled it out of the garage for better light, quite proud. Now to start skinning it, still can't decide what to use.
Hope you like so far, as an amateur I find things I could have done better all the time, but that is learning and fun.
Working on the wheels, they were a little rusted so I took a wire wheel the them came off in no time. For the tough stuff I used a little zip strip paint remover. 3 coats of each so far. I will also do 3 coats of clear coat.

Also worked on the drop down shelf and entry into the front storage today. Came out much better today. Also a lot better fit.
Wheels are done and back on the trailer. Pulled her out ft he garage to get a good look in the light. Looks awesome at least to myself. I also hooked her up to the car to see how level it sits, I was amazed almost perfect. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
Floor cut and on but not officially on, I need to prepare to metal for paint before I screw to floor officially on. So much to do hoping to start getting some work done on it soon, life is just busy.
