For an awning, I'm thinking about a pair of extending square tubing with multiple holes for a pin for adjusting the height. When not deployed, it can go to the lowest position. Think jack stands.
Cyberman, are you just going to buy to different size square stock and drill your own holes. It is a good idea, how would I mount to the top of the lid, just build and weld up a brace for it and bolt on?
Nice setup. I have a soft spot for the 4 runners...I owned one for about 3 weeks. Fun to drive and practical, and capable. Mine was too far gone to keep, so I sold it.
Guys I've decided to put the roof top tent on the trailer, is there a hard a fast rule for where to mount it? Should I mount it towards to front for weight distribution or over the axle for strength?
Well today I got my trailer plated. From all that I read people made it seem lime it would be hard. Got a permanent plate for $75 plus the $6 it cost me to get it weighed on a certified scale. 610lbs dry if you were curious. I took all my receipts said the trailer was donated (which it was from my father) and that most of the parts were laying around. Didn't have to pay tax due to the tax from all my receipts. It was a good day.
I need some help I have them old legs from a table they ate roughly 14-16ga. Area I'm strength and I want to use them. Any idea on how to affix them to the top of the trailer. I want it removable so I can take on and off easily. On top of them with cross bucks will be my RTT.
A quick mock up of the look I want.
Any help is appreciated guys, I'm stuck on this one.
So this is what I decided on, welded a plate to the upright tubes, drilled a whole to weld a bolt too, so that the bolt goes into my cross members on the lid for strength and rigidity. I will weld 1x2 steel for the cross bucks on top of the tube.
Tube with plate welded (yes welds duck but will get the job done)
Here is what I got done today on the rack for the roof top tent. It is bolted so it can come off if needed.
Another angle.
Sorry for the messy garage! Honestly I am ready to be done with this and use it and make changes as necessary.
Still left to do:
-paint once all fab work is done
-weld/bolt on jack stabilizers
-put on license plate holder
-mount the awning
-find a place to mount the high lift jack
-double up the paracord for my shelves
