Fishing the San Juan: Pagosa

A fantastic day on the one of the most beautiful rivers in the west, and with great friends to share it with.

As part of a little "Mongol Rally" party, a few friends came to Pagosa to ride motorcycles, tell stories and catch a few fish.

Here is the fishing part:

I got lucky, right off the start and caught two on nymphs and something with legs (sorry, I am such a rookie with the technical details).

A big thanks to Dave for arranging the guide. Our guide came from Wolf Creek Anglers. Mike, the owner is a fellow overlander and generally good guy. They have access to private fishing locations along the San Juan. No advertising, and the service was paid for. Just putting out a good word for great service.

It was an awesome time! The San Juan is such a beautiful river. Our time spent there was rejuvenating. Big thanks for Dave for making it possible and to the excellent guidance from Joe who was such an excellent coach that I was able to land two fish my very first time fly fishing!

It's great to see others enjoying fly-fishing, especially newcomers. I had fabulous day, Wednesday, taking a friend (fly-fishing-newbie) out on to Silver Ck and the Big Wood. The day was perfect and we each released fish. Then we met our spouses for a fine dinner in Bellevue. Nice way to celebrate my 74th.
