OK thanks!! I will check with Discount Tire, DTD told me they couldn't get them due to "contractual obligations"
Discount tire just quoted me $273.20 per tire mounted out the door. I believe this included their "Certificate for Repair" on each tire but have a call into them to confirm. They told me $239 per tire. Treaddepot.com is at $229 delivered to 55398.
I got a quote from America's Tire (Discount Tire) today - ST/Maxx LT255/85R16, $237.00 ea. + mounting, balancing, tax. etc.
Has anyone been quoted a better price?
I'm going to order tires this week, and want to get the best "price matching" I can get from America's Tire.
However, at $237 ea. for the LT255/85R16 ST/Maxx, I might be forced to stay with my stock size (LT265/75R16) at $160 ea. especially because I will need to buy 5 LT255/85R16s but only 4 LT265/75R16s. Going tall and thin will cost about $545 more than staying at 265/75R16. It's hard to justify the price difference for 1/2" in additional ground clearance.

That's exactly why I purchased the 265/75R16!
How important is the 1/2 inch?
I regret to announce that I will be unable to join the 255/85R16 club.
I ordered a set of Cooper Discoverer ST/Maxx LT265/75R16-E tires today for $160 ea. (+ mounting/balancing, tax, etc.) from America's Tire/Discount Tire.
As much as I wanted them in 255/85R16, at $237 ea. vs. $160 ea. for my stock size I couldn't justify the extra cost for the use my rig actually gets. (I have had no problem rationalizing how there might be a time that I need tall, skinny tires, but the truth is that I avoid driving in snow and the extra clearance I am giving up can be made up by choosing the right line.)
Are you sure you're getting ST MAXX in 265/75R16?? Everything I can find says that's a $200+ tire... The AT3 in load range C is $160/tire... If they let you have ST Maxx for that price, you got a heckuva deal!!!
Yes, I'm absolutely sure. I even went out to my rig to look at the receipt again. Shocker also paid $160/tire for the LT265/75R16 ST/Maxx on 3/15. It was the one-day price on Discount Tire Direct Ebay with the coupon code, which was price matched by my local America's/Discount Tire.
BTW, I was quoted $140/tire for the AT3 (for which you also get an $80 prepaid Visa as a rebate when you buy 4, bringing the per tire price down to $120).
