Ford injectors in a 3.9

I've got a leaking injector that is causing hard starting problems. In another thread it was mentioned that injectors from a Ford 4.6 can be used in place of the LR injectors and they actually work a little better.

Does anyone have a part number or from which 4.6 these injectors come from?

I used a 19lb/hr injector from Summit I dont see them listed anymore. If you think its an O ring I very well may have a set

Careful there...If I'm not mistaken the Ford 4.6 injectors look more like the D2 injectors.

The 5.0 Ford injectors are more physically similar to the OBD1 injectors in the early Disco.

If you really want an opinion, nose around Pirate and talk to PT Schram. PT's concern is that the Ford injectors are intended to operate at a slightly different pressure level and a slightly different impedance.

Short answer seems to be that they'll work...maybve just not ideally.

Ok-so not so easy option. Is there a better and/or less expensive option than the LR injectors?

Thanks Tom,

Have you noticed any problem with the OBDI and/or did it reduce the MPG (if that's possible) On the plus side-did useing race injectors improve response?

No, didn't get a CEL at all. Yes, I an improvement. On the other hand, the engine was so ragged out that just about anything would have helped. lol

Good enough for me-just over $200 for something that is maybe better than stock , can't argue with that.
