Spring 2024

The plan is to build a camper for my 2002 Ford Ranger.

Construction boxes for Ranger are quite rare. I found a old KAMPCO fiberglass box.

To be able to work easily on the box I installed it on a trolley.

First step: remove the black paint and install it on the truck to get a better idea of what it will look like

Probably the reason campers are rare on a Range is because they can't carry the weight of a camper shell, gear, water and people!

Making one won't change reality.......

This type of box has no bottom. I have to build one.

The interior design begins with the bed. I plan to use the Murphy bed system.

The space is very small so every little detail counts. There is also the weight that must be taken into account

What do you think about those Brophy tie downs on the bed rails. Are they solid and don't move at all?

I have a friend who has been using his bindings for years. He crossed Canada with a much bigger camper than mine without any problems

I know that weight is to be taken into account. My camper will not be able to have a bathroom with shower, a living room with sofa and a kitchen to accommodate 5 people.

My little truck has a 6 cyl. 4L. Many people use their trucks for work and load them. My goal is to build a camper that will be under 1000lbs.
