32 days until spring. 🥶

Because the camper cannot enter the garage, another project takes all the space, I take the time to work on the interior design plans.
With luck we'll have an early spring and I'll be able to get back to work on the camper.
I bought the first piece of the electrical system.

The exterior is finished. Painting, lettering and I installed a ceiling fan. I still need to install the ladder and solar panels. The next step will be to weigh the truck with the camper on it to find out how much weight I have available to build the interior.

First road test. 320 km (Montreal - Sherbrooke back and forth) with lots of hills. I felt like there wasn't any camper on the truck. I'm really happy.

On the way back, a few kilometers from home, there's a truck scale. I drove over it. Took a picture. When home, took the camper off the truck and went back to the scale. Another picture.

Do the math. My camper weighs 270 kg (595 lb) empty.

When I drove over the scale, I was with my wife and I had filled my gas tank both times.

The sticker on the door of my truck. If I do the math again, I have about 100 kg (200 lbs) left to complete the interior of my camper.

It's not much...

After a little research, I learned something I didn't know. My Ranger is manual. Its GW is 2240 kg (4940 lbs). If it were automatic, the same truck would have a GW of 2332 kg (5140 lbs), so I'm adding up about 100 kg (200 lbs).

I add everything up, and if I switch trucks to an automatic I would have 200 kg (400 lbs) to complete my camper interior, and the total weight of the camper should be around 450 kg (1000 lbs).

I know that weight is to be taken into account. My camper will not be able to have a bathroom with shower, a living room with sofa and a kitchen to accommodate 5 people.

My little truck has a 6 cyl. 4L. Many people use their trucks for work and load them. My goal is to build a camper that will be under 1000lbs.
