FORM 29'er: Expeditions West

Wish I could join the Fruita run. My dear wife has been very sweet to let me commandeer more than a few weekends for my own bikey bike fun. I better tend to the home front for the rest of the season.....save for a 12 hour race in Scottsdale in December. :)

You should definitely hit up Fruita. I can't wait to see he frame. A lot of small builders run behind so be prepared.

Daryl runs a super tight ship. I doubt he runs behind often if ever. You should see his work. Truly beautiful. Beyond the amazing construction and design quality of his bikes, the detail he puts into the component spec is incredible.

As said above, I'd love to hit a big ExPo ride this year, but I've had a pretty incredible riding year so far. I'll settle for some mellow rides with my bride for the rest of the year.

<someone please forward this to my wife.> :)

I agree Daryl is an efficient builder, its just a busy time of year for most builders. Late or not it will be a sweet bike.

Of all the various builds I have followed on ExPo over the years, this is probably my favorite. Building a bicycle for expedition use is an AWESOME idea and one I tried to tinker with years ago but never followed through on.

I've heard FORM bicycles are top-notch and the Ti setup sounds sweet! Steel frames usually are the best option because of feel but you sacrifice because of weight. I rode a Serotta road bike with Ti frame and man, if I hadn't already bought a carbon frame for the road I would have gone Ti as well.

What is the expected completion date for your build and if you do make it to Fruita, keep me posted as that's an area I've longed to ride at. :)

That is curiously similar to the geometry on my Spot. Same angles. Slightly longer TT. Tad more drop on the BB, which will be really nice when loaded and covering more technical terrain.

Looks like it will be a perfect blend of daily rider and extended traveler. Awesome. Sure hope he puts some gears on it. :)
