4x4 Diesel Camper Van - $9900, 203K

https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/cto/d/diesel-camper-van/6218196033.html

"Up for sale is my 1995 Chevy G30 one ton van sporting 4x4, diesel, and a homemade camper build out. This era of van came in two body lengths, and this is the longer version. It's 12 feet from the rear doors to the back of the seats. I built this van as a minimalist version of a Sportsmobile. Simple, reliable, and with enough creature comforts to keep the girlfriend happy. Diesel powered, 4wd van with 2 beds, electricity, water, and a hot shower! "

2007 Duramax/Allison ambu with 61,000 miles for $18,000 USD (in Edmonton)

This looks like a terrific price for a low mileage Duramax/Allison van:

Does anyone know if there are shops that will lift and install heavy duty suspensions and rear lockers in these? I don't think I really need 4WD, but I need clearance and the ability to drive on rough roads for many miles. As I look around on the used market, these ambulances are priced much more attractively than most personal vans. And I assume they have been well maintained. Thoughts?

Weldtech Designs would be my first call. They do a lot of 2WD as well as Chevy.

I was checking out this dealers listings last week as they seem to have a few. The only thing that I noticed with the ambulances that I have looked into in western Canada is that most have REALLY high mileage or the lower mileage ones seem to be priced to capitalize on the medical accessories. That being said trying to find a newer van with a raised roof in western Canada is almost impossible so maybe buying a lot of medical equipment is the way to go. There are a number of specialty shops that could do what you want, we have a mechanic locally that would do this with no problem so it should not be that hard to find a few to give you a quote.

It's a block from my house if anyone needs me to check anything specific out. I definitely already checked it out and it's nice for the price. I've been eyeballing it for years. Just needs a 4x4 conversion.

What's the rust situation on this thing? I assume that if you've looked, you've checked that out, too. Thanks!
