Four Peaks, AZ. Pickup February 9th

Tim and Kelsey get lost..
I consider this group the core of offroaders. The ones who try to make a difference.
Thats why I'm looking here for some help with this clean-up. It will be out at Four Peaks Rd next month.

If you are headed out on a run that day and can fill a bag on the way that would be great!
If you want to help get a sponsor or two that would help a lot.
If you want to donate a nominal amount to cover some costs that would also help.

Where: Beeline Highway and Four Peaks Rd. (AKA NF-143)
Just North East of Phoenix, AZ

Directions from Phoenix: Take the 101 to Shea and turn East. Take this to the Beeline(AKA Highway-87). Turn North on the Beeline (87). Take this 15 miles. The turn is just before mile marker 204. Turn Right on Four Peaks Rd (NF-143) (east). Take the dirt road less than a mile to the restrooms and parking area.

When: February 9th. 9am-3pm. (Come by to fill 1 bag or 20 whatever you have time for. Feel free to show up anytime between 9am-3pm and leave when you need to.)

What to bring: A desire to leave it a little better than you found it. Trash bags will be provided!

Recommended Items: Gloves, long pants, sun block, a hat, water, snacks.

Count the Flying Family In. We LOVE that area and hate the mess. This will be perfect!

Shall we are rendezvous at a certain time/spot?

Hltoppr, No worries. See ya at the next one! :REOutCampFire03:

Thanks for the support Scott!

I would love to have the Flying Family come! I'm going to meet at the Four Peaks Parking lot. It is just east of Highway 87 (The Beeline). I'm still working on a time, but I think it may be about 9am. How does that sound. :)
I want people to feel free to come or go when they can. Fill up one bag or twenty. It's all good. :26_7_2:

I'll see if I can make it, I should be settled in to Yuma, AZ by then and be able to get away for a weekend of wheeling to settle down all the nerves I'll have from the big move...

We'd love to have you there Scott!
I don't hate anything more than moving so I understand! The boxes will wait, I have a few that have been patiently sitting for 2 years now...

Tim...........

I've been watching your thread.

I'm interested in how you are going to take out the burned FJ.

Are you going to bring in a large trailer and pull it on and tow it out?

Or are you going to cut it up into smaller pieces?

I also saw the shooters mess they left just up the hill! Oh Bugga ME! I hate that!

This whole mess is terrible to see!

If I was there............I would certainly join you.

Thanks for sharing your trip report!:26_7_2:

Thanks SWR! We'll meet up on a run someday I hope! :camping: :safari-rig:
The FJ needs to be checked out by the Sheriff first to see if its part of a crime. If so they will remove it. If not we'll try and get a flat bed out there to take it away.
There is so much trash out here I just hope to make a noticeable difference! Sad, but true.

So is it tough to get to the area where the FJ is? Would we be able to bring in a long trailer to winch the remains onto if we were able to get its "wheels" onto it?

EDIT::: nm I somehow missed your recent post

Yea I guess having the sheriff check it out would be good first

Tim,

It was good talking to you today. I talked to my VP today and we're in 100%. I'll be making a formal announcement at our club meeting on the 3rd Friday of this month. Please don't forget to check in at the CSC board to see what's going on over there regarding this cleanup.

I'll start working on getting some help from the dealership we talked about tomorrow. I'll also be working on some raffle prizes to entice anyone who shows up to hang out all day and help out.

I'm also hoping to get a trailer locked down this week for hauling the FJ out. I checked it over on Saturday when we were out there and there is no VIN evident on the rig. I'm sure the frame numbers are there somewhere but I wasn't crawling around in that mess to find them.

Typically what CSC has done as a club on our cleanups is to hit the meeting spot at aroun 8:30 or 9 and get everyone out with bags no later than 10am. We have everyone meet back at a predetermined place aroun 1 or 2 for lunch and a heavy policing of the meeting area then a raffle around 3 or 4. This leaves plenty of time for people who travel 2 hours or more to get home around dinner time. In the past CSC has done similar cleanups at Sheeps Bridge, Fossil Springs (2), and the Coke Ovens. We've hauled TONS (literally) from each of those sites. The FS has been great to work with on all of these occassions. I'm sure they'll be great this time around also.

I'll shoot you a PM tomorrow sometime to start the discussion about some ideas that I've got to get some good participation on this one.
