I almost typed the same thing too....I'll bring one along with some extra blades if you think it might help with some of the other cleanup...

SWR and 2006KJSPORT4x4,
hahaha! I bet there will be plenty of big chunks to move out besides the FJ. I'm going to scout it out before hand to see what is out there.

BMAN,
I'd love to have the Copper State Cruisers in on the clean up. The FS has basically said to not touch the FJ there is plenty more. I'll look forward to more info. If you need to give my cell number to the Toyota dealer feel free to so we can coordinate.

Tim,
Sorry if I am asking too many questions.

1. What is going to be the method of removing all the trash we pick up?

2. Will the Forest Service help with this or do we need to handle transportation to the landfill/transfer station?

3. Do we need to talk to the landfill/transfer station about waving the dump fee for this trash?

If we need to arrange transportation, I will call a friend that has an excavating business over off of Happy Valley Rd. and see if he will bring a dump truck or end dump.
There is a transfer station along the Beeline not far from where we will be if I remember correctly.

Chuck,
No problem. Questions are good. The FS said they will provide the bags and the pickup of the bags. To help them out I want to put all the bags in a central location. (near the parking area)
I have the use of a trailer from one friends construction company to help move the bags when filled. If you have or have access to another trailer, that would be great. Some trash obviously won't fit in a bag so it will be nice to move those objects as well.

This might end up being pretty big! So far I've seen posts on IH8MUD, FjCruiserForums.com, and AZFJ.org.... hopefully there's a good turnout!

I hope so. There is lots to do! Can someone recommend a great local Land Rover club? I would love to get each prominent offroad vehicle model represented.

sorry for my delay in posting to this thread...I have been out of town.
This is a great plan and although I have a big cub scout function that day it isn't until 2pm so I will be there from 9-12 picking up as much as I can as fast as I can.
I will spread the word also....
So if I understand we have trash bags covered & the FS will pick them up correct?
Other needs?
Food for lunch?
Give-a-way items? (AZ doesn't allow "raffles" unless you have been a non-profit for 3 years)
Gloves?
I will hit up anyone I can think of for any of the above or whatever else you post that is needed.
Keep up the great work.

Great news! Glad to have you! I hope the emergency gear testing went well. It must have. You made it back.
Yes, bags and collection will be covered.
My current challenges are water and food.
GREAT call on the raffle. Its actually a give-a-way and I realized the same legality situation today. I'll be trying to back track and change the posts tomorrow to read Give-a-way.
Shoot me a pm on any Give-a-way items you have in mind.
The more gloves the better.

I'm working on lunch and water today. I think I'll have this covered through my company. The president and CEO said that he'll offer whatever support we may need. We have a burger wagon that I can do about 60-80 burgers at a time on. I'll post up when it's confirmed.

Did some scouting last weekend with Brandon from Copper State Cruisers.
Looks like volunteer job security out there. Plenty for everyone to pickup!

http://www.goodgun.org/ may be another good resource for you. They have participated in cleanups at T<M, and may get out some of the shooters who do care...

Get a hold of Bryan Tucker at 928/925-6068. He's the numero uno dude.

Thanks Mark!
I spoke with him this morning. Absolutely great guy! He has offered to have some cash prizes added to the give away!
I was so pleased to find a responsible shooters organization. Each group has great people in it, but the shooting group seemed to lack an organized group until I found www.goodgun.org
Good People! :26_7_2:
