Yes I have some small knowledge of the subject. The article you link is nearly a year and a half old.
Like I said this started in late 2012. The trucks named in the recent warrant were all imported prior to then.

ie....one who pontificates.

The Chief Pontificater had a Rover or two

Would any of this be the reason two 20 year old Land Rovers (1995 models) appeared in the for sale listings on ExPo in recent days? Both were converted to diesel engines. One (from Vermont, I think) looks to meet USA safety and emissions rules, the other (from North Carolina) maybe not. Asking price is almost reasonable...

Those are US spec Discoverys, not imported trucks. That has zero to do with this subject.

The question that nobody seems to be addressing is why has this investigation centered around a single (albeit sleazy) importer? If this really was the tyrannical DHS at work to rid the US of sketchy imports, wouldn't the net be a bit wider than a single importer in North Carolina? As far as I know hundreds of 80's Land Rovers have been imported with no issues, it's only 40 trucks from one source. I'm not a lawyer, and I'm not close to this situation, but it would seem to me that there's more here than meets the eye.

It has been addressed/very clearly outlined. This has zero to do with emissions or safety.
