Yeah, I always drooled over the Icelandic rigs.

I'd go for the huge flares if they wouldn't get torn off on the trails here. They probably don't see many trees out there.

This means when I break the stock stuff, I can upgrade.

hey guys, I wanderd over here from the Nissan section, I could not help but read every opst in this thred. as it has been said before, I LOVE non triditional builds, "Take mine for example" Codey, I think the truck looks great! I am all for the idea of a LOW COG and large Tires. keep up the good work man and keep posting pics, I will stay tuned.......

Forget the body lift. save your cash and get portal axles out of a Unimog. If they don't hold up nothing will. Bullet proof stuff and a combination of the best Asian and German hardware!!!!

I agree here portals you be the best way to go. with portals it would be unstoppable.

A lincoln lift is where, instead of adding body or suspension lifts, you cut and re-tub the body to fit the tires at full compression and full lock turn.

Lookin' good there...you'd be surprised how many people would like something similar. Arctic Trucks and Lavender Bros have been inspirations for me for quite a while, after seeing some of their work in photos in past years.

Xface that's a really nice spare carrier...must make it a lot easier to get the tire up and down.

Dude, your means, motivation, and skill don't matter. 9 in 10 web wheelers will keep telling you your plan is bad and won't work. Keep building it exactly the way you want and look for specific help to problems you actually encounter. I can't think of a mod I've done that someone didn't rain on and mostly I'm very happy with my results. I can't wait to see how yours turns out and I'm a dyed in the wool web wheeler

As long as he sticks to dirt roads and doesn't need to get moving or stopped too quickly!

Driving style will have more impact than his tire choice. The stocker birfs may not last too long but it wouldnt surprise me if they did last awhile. The FJ80 birfs are MUCH larger than the mini truck birfields

I know he will be fine with Longfield birfields.

I know people who run FJ80 front axles on 42s and they have had very few issues. Yes, their rigs are much lighter than this beast, but on the other hand they run buggy only trails, often including full throttle assaults.
