Funny MegaMat Pad Failure

Heard a strange peeling noise while kicking back on my bed and felt an odd lump all the sudden:



It seems like there is a leak that is causing the layers to delaminate. It is still under warranty luckily and hoping for an overnight replacement before it fails completely, lol.

Luckily, they are sending me a new one with rush shipping free of charge. Apparently, a very rare defect they only see from full-timers like myself.

Well now this is a rather strange thing.... I had a failure of a Big Anges. The seam literally came unwelded... Odd things happen.

I wish you would not have commented. I've actually been brainstorming all day about R&D, marketing etc after seeing this photo.

What is under your pad?

Underneath, I have a Froli Nemo marine innerspring system to keep airflow under the mattress to prevent condensation/mold and for some extra support.

One thing that I think can cause this is exposing an inflatable to extreme heat, like leaving a mattress in a closed car in the summer sun. I've slept (literally) hundreds of nights on Exped mattresses with never the slightest failure. My REI Camp Bed delaminated the day I received it---same ominous peeling sound you mention. My inflatable car seat did the same thing, which I think was heat.
