I've recently sold my Palomino and I'm wanting a Grandby.I know the options vary but what can I expect for 6k or so dollars?
Also, are there different bed sizes over the cab on this model?
Thanks.

For 6k you can generally do better in a Grandby than you can in most other FWCs. Especially if you drive an older truck, people are basically giving the older units away. There is a late model shell up the street from me for 6.5k, and I live in the most inflated fwc market around.

Regarding bed size, I am not sure about differences in models. Mine is a 2001 and has an enormous E-W bed over cab, and a large N-S bed down low. You can see some pics on my build thread on page two of this forum.

Thanks for the replies. My truck is 97 Dodge 2500 longbed.

Okay, thinking you will need to stay newer than '91 with your Grandby purchase, but Stan can verify that. Or, if you go to FWC's page, they have fit guides that will tell you how new you need to go to ensure a fit.

Yup.

The change was in '91, but to be sure, just measure the camper width at the back end at the bottom of the door. If it's 64", it won't fit the newer trucks, if it's right at 60", it will.

A lot of people measure between the wheel wells - that's the wrong place. It's the distance between the bed posts (basically, the width of the tailgate) that causes the problem.

As John said, pay a visit to WTW. We have almost daily postings of used pop up campers. I've seen some nice campers posted within your budget. BTW, the WTW site is very pop up oriented, with FWC and ATC being the most popular/common.

Good luck in your search!

Here's a link to the used pop-up camper thread on the Wander the West site - http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/7380-used-pop-up-truck-camper-alert-thread/

The gear exchange thread will have campers available. Normally the bed slides out to a queen with E-W sleeping.
