Gas Cans 05 TundraBeast Build. Another build for the Big Guys!

Re-redoing things the third time
At one point I was 4444lb with me in the drivers seat. Granted that was drag strip spec with no spare, no gas, no tailgate, no tools and my 144lb frame.

With the coilovers, bigger shocks, bigger tires, spare, fuel, toolkit, cantilver, I can see it being well over 5500, add in bumpers, winches, and everything else 6k comes up quick.

My truck is gonna end up with some body image issues.....

On the inside I made a little bracket to hold my GPS.

Its hardwired in with the cable tucked behind the trim. Dont have to worry about running out of battery now.

Bit of a moot point now because Im thinking of switching to a iPad mini with Hema maps and a Garmen Glo. Will think about modifying it to hold an iPad mini.

During this install I started thinking about a new stereo deck with GPS and a rear view back up camera.

Great idea! I have been thinking of tying into there for a GPS mount... might have to steal your idea! Well done

"Steal" has such negative connotations....."reproduce" sounds nicer.

Might have to jump to present day soon. I have a couple items across the boarder waiting for me.

"replicate" then....dosnt sound like we r fornicating around....

Roof rack. Once the hole was drilled in the fender the genie was out of the bottle. Was really nervous about this one.

The rack is a ******ttyBilt Defender. It is a 11 year old truck so I didnt want to spend alot of money but I kinda wish I got a better rack...but it works.

I really wanted a place to put some lights and a little more storage since the truck was for a family of 4....and maybe even a dog.

Had to make sure I didnt interfere with the sunroof.

Fabbed up some brackets. Plan was to mock them up in place then tighten the bolt, and weld them up on the inside for good measure. Made some gaskets out of bike inner tube.

Then cam the nervous part. The drilling. Started with a small hole and swept around with a wire to see if I needed to move it.

Then made it bigger.

Added a little sealant to the riv nut...

And crushed them in place.

In the end I did bent a cross member into the path of the sunroof and had to drop the head liner to bend it back.

Little mock up.

So in the end I am happy the way it turned out. I was very lucky I didnt cause any major trouble.

Anyone planning on doing this, I would recommend dropping the head liner. Its not that hard. With the sealant and blind end crush nuts, I very confident about water intrusion.

Nice job on the roof rack. I been wanting to do the same but wanted more of a custom rack. Similar to the prinsu design.

Can you see them now? Seems to be fixed. I didn't do anything. Probably was a photobucket thing I am guessing.
