There's bit a new direction taken with this build. I've undergone another round of mods including suspension, lockers and new treads.

So back to the build...

I burnt the midnight oil getting 'Emmen' ready for the HC. I ended up having a few dramas with installs though it all came together in the end.

The Silverstones took a little getting used to at $1 on the drive over. There a big tyre. For a 285/75 x 16 they're almost 34" tall and and 12" wide. At speed there fine though at the start they were quite squirmy in the corners.

Kind of like driving on 50c pieces... lol

Speedo was 4km out @ 100km/h via GPS. Off road they were AMAZING. The grip level and traction in the clay and rock was brilliant.

It was also the first outing with the DMS package. I had to set the fronts at 590mm to give enough clearance for the MT 117's. The dampening was set on 15 for the drive over. It felt as stable as the Ultimate previously fitted. Going off road on the Saturday they felt a little stiff. I changed them down to 10 and the difference was amazing.

The Silverstone's were aired down to 20psi also.

Great flex and comfort for the weekend...

With all the mods I've undertaken I'm so impressed with how this vehicle handles and performs both touring and off roading. The achilles heal is the departure angle though.

Suffice to say there will some body sculpting taking place over the coming months.

So it's been a while since the last update. Here's a rundown on the latest modifications to the Triton.

I performed a rear 1/4 chop to gain an increase in departure angle.

With the tailgate and accessories removed I chose the line and masked it up. A angle grinder with a 1mm disk made light work of the job.

Next it was reinstalling the rear reflectors, number plate relocation and fitting some licence plate lights to the tailgate.

Rear chop complete. Next up was raising of the TJM rear bar the 180mm to suit the chop.

With the rear bar fitted time to look at the tailgate.

I added some nutsert's and Narva LED licence plate lights...

These worked out really well and I'm happy with the result.

Next to be fitted was a pair of genuine Ralliart projector headlights from Japan. These are the Dakar style lights made by Hella in Germany.

I've since added Narva 120+ globes to the Hi beam and converted the projector to 35w 5000k HID.

With the tub chop complete I had to relocate the 2nd battery. It's a 120ah AGM and was previously located on top of the rear bar.

This was relocated into the LHS storage box within the Drifta draw set.

The cabling was run into the tub through a 30mm electrical gland...

The LHS storage well also now houses the Air On Board 200cfm compressor and a 9lt air tank for airing up tyres and running tools out on the trail...

The Sureflow demand pump supplies water from the 50lt tank against the headboard.

Both water and air outlets come out at the LHS panel.

I decided to do a little servicing today. The grill had lots of stone chips and was looking a little shabby.
A mate gave me a can of Plastidip so I gave the ol girl a touch up.

So while testing out the new trailer setup we had a jaunt through the Argadells and Merna Mora in the Southern Flinders Rangers in South Australia.

Here are few happy snaps. Some great country.

So it's been a long time between mods. Life got a little busy there for a while and the Triton sat abandoned for almost 1year without any love.

Alas were back on track and I'm in the process of tying up a few loose ends and finally fitting some more kit I've had stored.

To be installed:
TJM scrub rails grafted onto my Hazzard Engineering sliders.
1" body lift
7 Rocker Switch Panel
Pioneer double din stereo
Winch service
and a few other bits n bobs.

First up was the 25mm body lift. I'm running DMS adjustable suspension set at just over 2" lift. I've had issues with running 33's on 0 offset. The fronts still hit in the wheel arches at full flex. The BL should fix this once and for all.

So winch service was under way. Couldn't find anything online though had a heap of tools, solvent bath and a tub of grease.

All went well and had no parts left over... lol

Next up the BL. I bought a kit from Luxafifts in Tassie. Straight bolt up and took 3hrs all up. There was a bit of dicking around with the steering bracket and fabing some riser blocks for one of the tub mounts.

8e6a0cfa4673858ab1c238a79a3b17ce.jpg

Next was lifting the T13 to suit the BL + a bit more. There a great bar yet sit way too low and stick out too far. Some cheeky fab and we got 50mm lift in the bar. Looks great and has really helped entry angle.

Also fitted the RAM mount for the iPad. I bought this online to make navigation a big easier.

The thing is a little over the top... lol sturdy enough to hold a laptop without moving !!!

Alas its in and should do the trick nicely.

Got a spare day to myself to do some more on the Triton.

Had a win and a loss so I guess it was an average day... lol

First up the winch. I haven't serviced it since purchase and it's had a fair few swims. The grease was like honey with contamination and slight rust. Not ideal. It all cleaned up ok except once it was reassembled.

It will only winch out when it's in the free spool position. Have checked the gearbox etc and all is well. Got me stuffed !!!

Alas some more head scratching is required...

I had a win grafting the TJM side rails I bought from a NTN member onto the WASP sliders.

Bit of work with the steel glue gun...

82255cc4f47a810b1ca220c678409874.jpg

There off to sandblasting tomorrow then 2pak. Powder coating is just not suitable as once it's damaged the corrosion is certain.
