While the sliders and getting blasted and re painted I did a little more fabrication today.

I had made a temp bracket for the UHF aerial about 3yrs ago and it was starting to bust. I replaced it with some strap steel, 50mm wide and 4mm thick. Add some KTM 6mm bolts, Rhino swage plates and a lick of black paint and it almost looks factory...

So I pick up the side steps and rails tomorrow from the paint shop.

Today was getting a few things tidied up before heading over to do the High Country. I added another strip light to the outside channel of the awning.

I'm going to be swagging it this trip so some extra lighting always comes in handy.

I grabbed these connectors from eBay a while back. They have a positive and negative terminal. Add some cable and a cig plug and presto a 12v power lead.

Then a strip of orange light, add cable and finish with the male connection.

I dusted off the muddies today also. After cleaning out about 20 Redback spiders and their webs I gave the rims a good clean.

I didn't realise how scratched up they are. Plasti dip to the rescue for a facelift and new look.

I replaced the checker plate tops as mine were thrashed and didn't survive the removal.

I took a trip over to Victoria for the Easter holiday weekend.

We came in from the S/E this time heading straight to Dargo. From Adelaide it was 11.5 hours with two stops along the way.

The place was crazy busy. I'd say about 500 people in and around the pub so we had one beer and left. We camped just out of town by the river with nobody around.

Saturday:
Junction Spur TK
Billy Goats Bluff TK (down)
Cynthia Range TK
Hern Spur TK
Camped here in a great spot.

Sunday:
Hern Spur TK
Wombat Range TK
Wonnangatta TK
Wonnangatta Station Ruins
Zika Spur TK
King Billy TK
Camped here in one of the helli pads on the side of the TK

Monday:
King Billy TK
Bluff Hutt TK
16 Mile Jeep TK
Mt Buller
Camped opposite Saw Mill before the 9.5hr drive home on the Tuesday.

Track conditions were great. At a guess most had been graded at the end of winter as there was minimal rutting and water damage. Conditions were dry, rivers low so as a result at times dust was an issue.

Night time cloud cover kept the heat in so the nights were warm. The fog burnt off in the mornings around 10am so we had great views all trip.

I've been reconfiguring the cooking equipment we take of late. I think post last trip we've got it sorted.

Update.

Since my last post Emmen had a hissy fit and spat all the coolant out the exhaust.

130 degrees and boiling coolant in the overflow bottle no limp modes or codes thrown

After 3 dealership s assessment the final one came to the table with a new motor. Complete short motor and complete head assembled by engine builder.

Kudos to the dealer who even replaced timing belts and other auxiliary component at no cost to me.

Considering it's done 103000kms and an 09 model it was way outside of warranty yet MMAL showed serious goodwill in coming to the table on this.
1yr 20,000km warranty on the new donk.

Hey thanks mate.

I tell you there were a few sleepless nights. It's a difficult decision if Mitsubishi didn't fix the issue does one spend $10K replacing a motor on a $20k vehicle ???

Lucky I got this through. Now I'm in two minds to either keep it and continue on or sell it and look at changing vehicles.

I'm interested in a 4.2 TD Toyota 100 series. Will see how things go.
