Ray, I didn't say I wasn't after any additional ponies. Taking our GMC with 5.3L V8 on the same drive netted a 45-55 minute difference (1 way) from one job to the other. I was simply including the bit to say that the Mikuni adapted to the high altitude. However, climbing grades where gravel trucks passed me was not infatuating.
I thought this up to mess with engineers, always full of themselves and having little common sense - the rule, generally, though I'll grant some exceptions. When the engineer asks me, I define a mechanical geologist as a geologist with mechanical background. Part of the geology curriculum is physics, geologic structure, material strengths, and such...plus I have an automotive background, playing with various machines, selling and installing parts, running a Gen I Montero wrecking yard. It's all in good fun, mind games to perplex the number crunchers.
