Gen 2.5 Mitsubishi Montero 2000 - Over-landing Family Truck - long term enhancement

I am a strong believer in a winch, right after real tires and rocker sliders on my upgrade priority list. But I also agree, Harbor Freight is mostly one to a few use items. Low dollar winches have a staggering failure rate. Definitely go quality.

Yep I agree, my friends told me you can't go cheap with Winches.

When you are in bad situation, especially with your family; you really need it to work when the time comes.

Working on my sleeping set up before I head out to Big Bend....got all the measurement... and then...I forgot to leave a space backseat to lean back.

Arhhhhhhhhhbggg! Generally I wouldn't care but having kids in back and not able to lean back will definitely drive them crazy for a long road trip... Smh...

We love the Big Bend area, probably our favorite NP and looking forward to a trip report with lots of pics.

Thank you, I always wanted to go there and finally pulled a trigger. I'm so excited and currently planning my trip.

You could cut it without ripping the carpet off and put a piano hinge in it. I did that with my platform for the exact same reason and it works beautifully. I put the support legs for the fold-down section on hinges.

Looks good Ray. Now how on earth did you install the trasharoo? I can't get my hands behind the tire to buckle in the clasps.

Love your rig! Just curious about the front part of your snorkel where it attaches to the front fender. Is it supposed to stick out like that...like it's not flush with the body panel.

Nwoods ,

Yeah its a bit of pain, I loosen both ends and dropped both adapter from the top.

After loosen them all the way, it should be long enough to connect with the bottom end.

At this point there are a lot of slack, this is when you start to adjust the straps at all 4 points. Also don't forget to use another secure strap that came with the bag to make it tighter.

Pics are below

Hello Jelorian,

Thanks!

No it's not supposed to. I got this from eBay, a knockoff Chinese brand. I got it for 120 dollars I think.

The fitting was terrible, hell I don't even think it for Montero .

The material seem to be solid so far, but it came with no instruction and missing screws. Took me all day to install the damn thing....
