Nice looking work you have done Stein. It might be a good idea to drill a hole in the bottom of the square metal you used to connect the sliders to your mounting plates. That will help the square metal from filling up with water and rusting. A hole a the lowest point when mounted close to the fram would work best. Cheers on a job well done and I feel sorry for those cutter disks..:Wow1:

Thanks. I don`t like the idea of drilling holes in the supports, because i think there`s no way for water to enter them. They`re welded close and i don`t think water will come in if there are some pinholes...

Sprayed all my steel parts and the snorkel with bedliner today. The steel parts wire wheeled:

The snorkel prepped:

Ready for bedliner:

I think it came out awesome. :Wow1:

Just don`t be that stupid like me and spray it in the garage without some protection for the garage. It`s some serious mess in there, i think my father is going to kill me...

And of course it started raining when the snorkel was sprayed. But i don`t think that hurts:

Snorkel finished. The scoop is not on it`s place, i just put it on to prevent the snorkel from rain:

Looks naked:

Can`t wait for tomorrow to put those part`s back on, i think it`ll look killer... :wings:

Got the sliders finished and took some pics:

Couldn`t squeeze a bolt through the frame like i planned here, any suggestions on fixing this?

Why not drill two holes to the left and lower left and run bolts through those? It won't be dead center but with the support from the other legs, it won't have to be.

The problem is not the alignment of the hole, it`s that the backing plate just fits between the frame and the fuel tank. There`s no room for a nut behind the backing plate. I thought about tapping the backing plate, but it`s not thick enough...

Also put new cv-grease in my cv-boots and secured them with some heavy duty stainless hose clamps. I don`t think they`ll slip anymore...

Hey Stein,

Could you make a nutplate to put inside the frame rail? I know it wouldnt be as good as going through the whole rail but its better than nothing at all. If you make it fairly big (providing you have a good size frame hole for access) it would provide pretty good strength...

Ok, idea #2 (LOL)... What if you dropped the tank so you could run the bolt through from the backside? If the tank is going to touch the bolthead it can be "clearanced" quite easily...

Alright, here's an idea for you along with a quick sketch. With this one, you'd cut a thin access line in the bottom of your frame, slide a plate with nuts welded into it inside the access line, and then weld the bottom plate to the bottom of your frame.

This will not weaken the frame, will allow you two solid mounts, and will keep you from dropping the tank.

The downside is that it might take just as long to fabricate the pieces as it would to drop the tank but if it's cold out, you'll be on your back for much less time.

For the front view of the drawing, that is in relation to you looking at the side of the truck. To make it easier, imagine you're holding the completed piece in your hand as you're facing the side of the truck. You would cut a slit in the frame, slide the piece up and into the slit, and then weld the bottom of the plate to the frame. Before welding though, I'd drill your holes through the frame and make sure they match up. If not, you can always elongate the holes and use a stout washer.

Does my explanation make any sense at all or have my descriptive skills failed me?

Wow :Wow1: Stein, your Blazer really has come a long way. I have to give you the 2 thumbs up:bowdown: for you fabrication skills. Does seem like you have a bit of a problem with the mounting bracket on your slider. There are lots of good suggestions have have been mentioned, but I think the one mentioned by Hybrid looks like a plan. The only question is how you feel about cutting into the frame. Later, you will have to weld in the under-up position to mount the bracket, but I think you could handle that. Just make sure you have the right welding rods and go for it!:wings:
