I think the 170s look great mounted anywhere. The problem I would have with four roof mounted 170s is the frontal area of those big boys. With todays gas priced at $3.50, I am pulling off my antennas for less wind resistance.

You could cut some cardboard into 5.6" and 6.6" circles representing the Lightforce 140s and 170s, then tape up on the light bar. Step back and I think you'll have a better understanding on how each one looks.

With the frontal area and wetted surface of a Jeep roughly approximating your average paving brick, I don't think a few lights will make a difference in fuel consumption.

I just installed 4 140's on the roof rack of a Disco and 3 170's across the bumper mounted light bar (customer request) I would sooner see the 170's mounted up high, the overall performance of the 170's makes them a better choice for that mounting position.

The 140's are barely noticeable once you switch on the 170's, I think the 170's would work better on top and the 140's down low. Any spot style light works better than a flood style light for a roof mount application.
