Look at Crazy Drei's build on a Suburban, he stuffed serious meats ( bigger than 35 but can't remember exactly ) under his rig with some sheet metal modifications. Kept the IFS

Pretty simple combination. 6” lift (many choices good and bad). Trim where the tires rub. Pack spare axle shafts and tie rod ends if actually intend on hitting even moderately challenging trails.

You also really need to thing about regearing to account for the larger tire size. It’s often overlooked but a 1/2 ton truck with a 5.3 with 35” tires and 3.73 or worse 3.42 gears is going to be a dog on hills or driving into a stiff wind. Most likely it will be dropping out of overdrive at the slightest sign of load increase. The trans is already known to have some weakness in stock form so stressing it with larger tires and less than optimal gearing will be problematic.

if you just plan on pounding pavement the likelihood of breaking anything would be less. If you actually intend on hitting trails be ready for fixing stuff when it breaks.
