I'd have to say if the driver puts on a helmet, and there's not one for me, I'm out.

Great Minds think alike. I watched this before reading any of the posts and when the driver put on a helmet and the passenger looked in the back and then put on a HAT. The first thing I said to my friend was, "if the driver puts on a helmet, and there's not one for me, I'm out."
Dennis (the passenger) is a very experienced 4WD enthusiast, both personally and professionally. If he felt comfortable riding without a helmet then good for him, he is not obligated to any more than a motorcyclist is require to wear a helmet or a baja racer is required to wear a hans device (or full faced helmet for that matter). There is an element of risk when you leave your home, some live for it, some live to prevent it![]()
BS. It wasn't his experience that protected, but blind luck.
If the driver feels a helmet was necessary for himself, then its his job to make sure his passengers are so equipped or not take them.
Would you ride a motorcycle off-road at speed without a helmet, whether it was required or not?
And Baja does require a helmet and all other sorts of safety equipment, not just a hat and 3-point seat belt.
