I agree with you about getting run over here in TX but technically 65 is the law here while pulling a trailer in our grand state.

Interesting - thought 55 with a trailer was a federal speed limit on interstate highways (freeways to those of us in CA).

I plan to regear too. It's a bit slow going up mountain passes, but not as slow as Dave's 18 mph.

I got 255/85R16 tires and don't plan on towing, so I plan to go with 4.88's. Or should I consider the 4.56? I plan to stick with 255/85R16 tires.

With a 33" tire and 4.88's you'll be lower than stock gearing. 4.56's will be close-ish to stock. Depends on what you want. I'm thinking about the same things. I think I will probably first go to 35's, then 4.88's when I have the money. Or I'll go 255/85 and stay at stock 4.11's...maybe. I don't know, I can't decide.

Perhaps I'll should lean more toward the 4.56 then.

Dang, the boys over at Yotmasters are kickin' some hind tail today.. just got a report..

"Rear is done. Ready for the tires to go back on. Front diff is done, parts all clean and painted. Knuckle studs replaced with new Toyota ones. Wheel bearings and birfs are repacked. Marlin front axle seals are in, knuckle bearing races are in. Just need to pack the knuckle bearings, put the front diff in, and put the front end back together. Also need to do the belts and grease the driveshafts."

IF anyone needs anything done, talk to Eric over there and let them know i sent you.

What gas milage are you getting right now pulling the trailer?

If you have to ask, you probably don't want to know! I used to tow a 4000lb trailer for our scout troop and usually got about 8-9mpg. The AT is not as heavy or big, but Dave's truck is heavier than mine!

What's with the No Offroading sign leaned up against the jack stand?

Your Land Cruiser looks naked without all the gear on the roof rack and without the two tires on the back.

It's a No Jeep sign.... hence the Toyota shop. I thought it was funny.

Yeah it totally looks nekked. Fun to drive too without some of the weight on it.

Well I am getting about 12.5 to 13.5 miles per gallon( with-out a trailer ), so I am wondering what Dave will be getting after he re-gears, specially after his average on his trip to the Overland Expo!

Wow, the 5.29's feel perfect. Nice power off the line for towing and the RPM's are at like 2200 at 50 on the speedo.. which is really like 53mph (should be the opposite now that we are over-spinning). Anyhow, couldn't be happier.. totally glad i didn't go 4.88's. It's nice to cruise in overdrive and not have to strab the throttle to down shift for power.

We'll see how if feels on the way into Anaheim on the 91 from Corona tomorrow. Need to drive it all weekend to break in the gears and then do a diff fluid change probably wednesday to be ready for the Overland Expo.

By the way... the truck could still use a supercharger :D
