Golf-cart batteries

I know there are some here who use GC batteries in their rigs...
Has anyone ever had one fail due to vehicle vibrations from heavy offroad use (washboard roads, etc.) or is familiar with how well their larger cells can tolerate vibrations vs. those in a traditional grp. 27 or 31 battery?
Are they generally built pretty robust?

If it matters, this would be regarding standard flooded-type batts.

Appreciate any info.

Many and I mean many RV folk use golf cart batteries and they get years out of them.
Costco and Trojan are the main ones they use.

Yeah that's exactly why I was thinking of them for myself as well (need around 220Ah, give/take 20 or so). I think it's probably safe to assume our rigs are subjected to a lot more vibration than a typical RV though, so that was where my concern came from.

I guess I can assume by the low response here that no one's really had any issues? (or maybe they aren't as popular as I thought  )

Perhaps I'll take my chances then.
Was a very-long-time Delco Voyager user, but one of the last pair I bought in '09 just died (and the other probably isn't far behind), yet a couple I have from '04 are still going strong. Another great product ruined by cost-cutting. :(

Did you ever get them? Did you have any issues. Also considering getting the GC2 for a small trailer setup.

Wow, 8 year old thread. This may be a record.

GC2 batteries will do great for your trailer. They are cheap, durable and generally great for RV related installs. The only downside is they are heavy. You'll need 2, or any multiple of 2, for a 12v system so this will add a minimum of 130# to your trailer (65# each). It will get you at least 200 amp hours though. Do you really need that much? A 100ah AGM will only be about 70#, which seems a lot more logical for a 'small trailer setup', but this of course is a relative term.

I last had a pair of GC2's in a home build van and the system was great for running lights, big DC fridge and diesel furnace. Weight wasn't a problem in the one ton van.

Another plus of GC2 batteries is they last a helluva long time and can take a lot of abuse.

LOL well who better to answer the question than someone who had tested them over an 8 year period. I actually bought two last weekend and started to get them installed in my trailer tongue box. I appreciate your response after all these years and I hope they serve me as well as yours did for you.

I have run the GC2 batteries on a number of travel trailers - and they are reliable and effective. At this point as people jump on the the lithium craze. You can find Trojan Batteries on Craigs List all the time. I used them on my travel trailer that I use a dozen times per year they. The seems to be a good fit and a great value.
